Abstract:This is a review paper that intends to examine the relationship between parental monitoring and self disclosure of adolescents. Parenting is a purposeful action of parents towards their children which consists of a combination of behaviors, feelings and expectations that are unique to a particular parent and a particular child. Parental monitoring (tracking and surveillance) of children's behavior is considered an essential parenting skill. Studies show that well-monitored youths are less involved in delinquency and other norm breaking behaviors. New advancements in technology, mass media and internet have increased the challenges of effective parental monitoring. As a result importance of self disclosure increases manifold. Voluntary disclosure from child enables parents to know more about him/her and also helps in building an atmosphere of trust and honesty towards each other. The paper presents a description of the factors that facilitates or impedes the process of self-disclosure. Gender differences in self disclosure are also discussed in the paper.

Abstract:The essay argues that there cannot be a universal theory of drama. Indigenous African drama, though it contains what might be the universal element of drama, which is mimesis, is home grown and different from European drama in some respects. There is need, therefore, to proceed with conceptualising and operationalising indigenous African drama. In doing so, however, care should be taken to distinguish drama from mere spectacle.

Abstract:African oral literature remains a veritable source of material for African literary drama through various means, ikncluding exploitation and adaptation. By so doing, besides the aesthetic benefits, present and future generations can learn, imbibe and practicalise the moral and social values of traditional African societies which we seem to badly require at this time of severe moral decadent. This essay shows the exploitation of indigenous African arts in terms of content and aesthetics by two prominent African dramatists, viz, Efua T, Sutherland of Ghana and Femi Osofisan of Nigeria

Abstract:Investment companies of financial groups operating in the capital market through issuing stock are attempting to attract investment. this complex operations can be done through the investment portfolio includes shares in various companies, bonds, currencies, physical assets and in some cases also be valid currencies. In this paper, we have an investigation on the relationship between the net asset value of the investment companies listed on the stock with the price of those. Hypotheses test is performed by using statistical methods from collected data through questionnaires in population management companies, investment experts.

Abstract:The need for development of education in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized. Digital library - a collection of documents in organized electronic form, available on the internet or on CD-ROM (Compact Disc, read-only-memory) remains a veritable instrument for engendering formidable transformation of the Nigerian decaying educational system. The traditional/conventional physical library, although provides a basis for the digital library, does not possess the required speed that could position Nigeria on a platform that could enable it compete favourably with other nations of the world in the area of knowledge acquisition, preservation and dissemination. In this paper, effort is made to examine the place of digital libraries in the development of education in Nigeria. In order to appropriately tackle the challenges of library digitization identified in the paper, it was recommended amongst others that all stakeholders should be active players in the entire process of establishing and sustaining them. Librarians should begin to foresee the added roles library digitization will impose on them in an attempt to build the library for tomorrow and begin to develop themselves for such tasks. There is need to incorporate library digitization as a specialization in Nigerian library school curriculum.

Abstract:In developing countries, great efforts are directed towards the development of cottage and small scale industries as the engine for their economic growth. The cottage industry of India is one such industry which has provided ample opportunity of employment for the rural people especially for low socio economic class. Cottage industry workers constitute a significant proportion of the total population of any industrial area. The health of this population is reflected in the health of the society in the given area. The aim of present study is to identify the major health problems in different type of cottage industry and the factors which contribute to these problems. The study is mainly based on primary sources of data collected from the workers employed in various cottage industries. A total of 169 workers engaged in 52 cottage industries were interviewed for this study. The various industrial processes and workplace environment create conditions that led to varying health problems in different industries as reflected in the physical and mental disorders afflicting this population. Finding shows that 52.17 percent cottage workers reported muscular problem, 26.09 percent respiratory, 10.87 percent skin problem and 10.87 percent stress and sleep.

Abstract:The study investigated Socio-cultural factors affecting child witchcraft labeling among the people of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The simple random and cluster sampling techniques were used for the selection of three hundred and fifty respondents used as sample for the study. The questionnaire and focused group discussions were instruments of data collection. Analysis was done using the frequency and percentages, correlation and multiple regression. The results of the findings revealed that there exist significance relationship between social factors and child witchcraft labeling. Cultural factors were discovered also to have influence on child witchcraft labeling. Based on the findings, it is recommended that deliberate and proactive steps must be taken to curb the excesses of the perpetrators of this evil act of child witchcraft labeling. Most of the cultural beliefs should be reframed in line with modernization.

Abstract:Of all social, economic and political phenomena, the most dominant trend in contemporary World system is globalization, which is being driven particularly by a new wind of information technology that is unparalleled in the history of humankind. Nation states have consistently intensified efforts towards engaging in business across national borders and constructing production and distribution networks on a global scale. Thus, the world today is a global village given the unprecedented level of inter-connectedness of political, economic, social and technological forces that permeate contemporary international system. This paper discusses the preponderance of a global environment which is strongly ingratiated in a system of interdependency, by a section of the international community especially Africa and the necessity for Nigeria, to take concrete steps to minimize the adverse effects of globalization while harnessing whatever may come its way that would enhance national development and poverty reduction. The paper concludes that Nigeria must embark on an overhaul as well as an entire restructuring and transformation of its political and economic superstructures in order to decisively confront contemporary economic challenges in the global arena.
