Title | : | Study on Effectiveness of Static Stretching and Massage on Hamstring Flexibility in Normal Adults |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Mamta Boora || Sujata Sharma |
Abstract: Introduction: Muscle tightness is the most common disorder in normal healthy individuals and insufficient range of motion caused by poor muscle flexibility may be a cause of muscle strain and increased risk of injury. Hamstring muscles are reported to be the most commonly injured multijoint muscle group in the body because strains are particularly common in multijoint muscles which have a greater functional excursion and tend to have a higher concentration of fast twitch muscle fibers......

Abstract: Sport tourism is an important economic activity in our country as it is all around the world. It is also defined as an industry which is related to other economical sectors. Therefore, governments need to manage, develop and market the tourism facilities so that tourism industry can help economical growth effectively. Planning means to manage large amount of data. Therefore, it is desirable to integrate Geographic Information Systems to planning for recreational sport facilities...........

Title | : | Tennis Elbow – Efficacy of local Corticosteroid injection in its Management |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. M. A. Q. Ansari || Dr. Sachin A. Shah || Dr. S. R. Jidgekar |
Abstract: Background: Tennis elbow is a common clinical problem familiar to orthopaedic surgeons. Its etiology and management remains controversial, reflected by the fact that more often it runs a chronic course. This study was designed to know the effectiveness of a local corticosteroid injection in its management. Materials and Methods: sixty-eight patients (median age, 38 to 41 years), presenting with pain on the lateral side of the elbow for a duration of more than six weeks were enrolled for the study. Patients were consecutively..........

Title | : | Kinematic Analysis of Take off Technique on the Performance of the Fosbury Flop |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr.C.VenkateswaraRao || Dr.Ch. Raja rao |
Abstract: The high jump is one of the most technical and complex event of the athletics. Top high jumper's in the world use one of the versions of Fosbury Flop technique , this proved the most efficient so far. This technique comprises the preparation for the touchdown, take off, the flight phase , bar clearance and landing. It is not easy to learn and perform, since it requires some special skills. Its mechanical and dynamic analysis reveals movements of an exceptional difficulty that cannot be so easily assimilated by most jumpers...........

Title | : | Quantification of Physical Activity in Children and Adolescents: Issues, Challenges and Recommendations |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Ajayi-Vincent, O.B || N. U. Igbokwe |
Abstract: Physical activity has been understood to be associated with reduction in all-cause mortality obesity, diabetes, hypertension, CVD, certain cancers, osteoporosis and depression. Quantification of physical as energy expenditure is important since childhood for the purpose of preventing future chromic noncommunicable diseases. Accurate and reliable equipment is important and needed to assess the physical activity among the youths. Furthermore, it is important to note that a high quality physical activity in children and adolescent can contribute to achieving helath goals. Meanwhile, many measurement techniques have been questioned hased on the issues and challenges surrounding them when used to measure the amount of physical activity in children and adolescents..........

Title | : | Knowledge and Attitudes of Amateur Sports Participants Regarding the Cardiac Risks Associated With the Use of Anabolic-Androgenic Steroids |
Country | : | United States of America |
Authors | : | Dr Syed Yaseen Naqvi || Dr Gerard Flaherty |
Abstract: Background The effect of anabolic androgenic steroids on the cardiovascular system has been well researched. However the knowledge of these effects amongst amateur sports participants has not been accurately identified. The aim of this study was to evaluate the awareness and attitudes of the cardiac risks associated with anabolic steroid use. Design: A qualitative, cross-sectional, observational study using an anonymous online questionnaire was filled out by amateur sports participants enrolled in competitive sports teams at an Irish university. .............

Title | : | Barriers to Providing Quality Physical Education in Primary Schools in Ghana |
Country | : | United States of America |
Authors | : | Seidu Sofo || Eugene F. Asola |
Abstract: The goal of physical education (PE) is to develop physically literate individuals to pursue a lifetime of healthful physical activity. Schools in Ghana, like other sub-Saharan African countries, do not implement their PE programs in accordance to policy. Thus, it is important to identify those factors that prevent schools from delivering quality PE. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to examine what primary school teachers in Ghana perceived as barriers to teaching PE. Participants were 294 primary school teachers purposively selected from four regions of Ghana..............

Title | : | Test-Retest Reliability and Consistency of Electronic Jammar Hand-Grip Dynamometer in Cricket Players |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Pavan KumarT || Sivachidambaram Kulandaivelan || Anuja Yadav || Pola Vasu |
Abstract: Handgrip strength plays a important role in cricket as various roles played in cricket rely on the continuous use of wrist and digits flexor muscles when catching, holding bat and ball, throwing the ball. Therefore, the assessment of handgrip strength is used in 31 cricket players. The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability of handgrip strength in cricket players. Each participant performed three maximal isometric contractions in six different positions on each hand for two occasions, at least one day apart...............

Authors | : | Peter.O.Ibikunle || Ubaezuonu. V.S |
Abstract: Maximal rate of oxygen uptake is one of the most commonly measured parameters in basic and physiological sciences and it is frequently used to indicate the cardio-respiratory fitness of an individual. The purpose of this study was to compare the maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and the cardio-respiratory responses of professional volleyball and basketball players to Harvard step test.Twenty-five volleyball players of mean age, height and weight of 26.16yrs, 1.80m, and 80.20kg and twenty-five basketball players of mean age, height and weight as 25.32yrs, 1.88m, 86.48kg were selected through purposive sampling and they performed the exercise protocol for five minutes after which there blood pressure and heart rate (HR) responses were measured..........
