Abstract: Background: The PCL well is located in Block 1 Seme Field of Benin Republic, Dahomey Basin. Effort is now being focused on the hydrocarbon exploration ofthe eastern Dahomey Basin in Nigeria and oil producing Tano Basin in Ghana so as to attract more investors and document information about it. Therefore, Palynostratigraphy of the Tertiary Offshore Dahomey Basin was carried out toexamine an important component of the organic matter forprovide better understanding of its Paleoecology and Paleoenvironmentusing the PCL- well as a case study. This study will give more insight on the offshore part of the basin (Seme Block1).......

Abstract: A detailed total intensity aeromagnetic survey was carried out in Wadi barqa, Southeastern of Sinai, Egypt; the magnetic data were corrected for the diurnal variations and reduced to the northern magnetic pole. The reduced to the magnetic pole map was qualitatively interpreted first through the magnetic separation by the 9-points Hanning filter into its regional and residual anomalies and second through the magnetic filtering in frequency domain into its low-pass and high-pass magnetic anomalies. The oldest tectonic trends seem to be rejuvenated and related to the opening of the Red Sea and the two gulfs. Furthermore, the reduced to the pole map was quantitatively interpreted first through the determination of the apparent magnetic intensity of the basement rocks, and through the basement depth determination by both the two-dimensional modeling and Euler deconvolution techniques. The basement relief map, according to either the step faults model or dikes and sills model reveals that the.....

Abstract: A key step in seismic data processing is first break (FB) picking, or rather, determining the onset of the first seismic arrivals in seismic records. FB picking is tedious and time-consumingtask and robustness and efficient automatic method are essential. Many automated FB-picking algorithms already exist that reduce the dependence on human interaction. The goal of this project is to improve automated FB picking by capturing the expertise of FB picking through supervised training of deep neural network from the field of machine vision. We have evaluated several neural network architectures and found a seven layer U-net with skip connections to provide the best results on seismic shot gathers....

Abstract: The rapid growth in urban populations in developing nations such as Nigeria in recent decades and the subsequent accelerated urbanization trend have highlighted the need to establish environmentally suitability models. The study area falls within lines of latitude 8°44'6''N and 7°59'40''N and Longitudes 4°09'40''E and 5°14'8''E all within the basement complex of Nigeria. This work aims at finding suitable landfill sites with less environmental effects. Potential landfill sites for Sokoto1, Sokoto2, Malete, Jimba, Oke Oyi, Ijagbo and Omu Aran have been explored using Environmental Geology and Geographic Information System (GIS) approaches as strategies to help decision-making processes. One of the primary methods of urban solid wastes management is sanitary landfill..........

Abstract: The current study aims to combine the interpretations of the structural geology and pressure transient analyses (PTA) to detect the presence of faults in Zubair and Mishrif Formations in Shuaiba Dome (or culmination) - Zubair Oilfield. The structural analysis included geometric and genetic analysis. The PTA analysis used the fluid rates, the pressures (preferably downhole), the fluid PVT, and a few additional parameters (well radius, pay zone, etc.) required from well tests to switch from a qualitative to quantitative analysis. The current study assured the efficiency of using the PTA analysis to detect the faults and it confirmed the presence of major parallel faults of Zubair formation. Besides, the study detects that the major parallel faults may extend to Mishrif Formation not just to Rumaila Formation.........

Abstract: Geographical information system (GIS) has emerged as an efficient tool in delineation of drainage pattern and ground water potential and its planning. GIS can be employed for the identification of morphological features and analyzing properties of Erravanka palli watershed. The morphometric parameters of basin can address linear, areal and relief aspects. The present study deals mainly with the geometry, more emphasis being placed on the evaluation of morphometric parameters such as stream order (Nu), stream length (Lu), bifurcation ratio (Rb), drainage density (D), stream frequency (Fs), texture ratio (T), elongation ratio (Re), circularity ratio (Rc),and form factor ratio (Rf) etc.. Study area is Palavayi basin, geographically located between 76° 30′, 76° 40′ E longitudes, and 19°30′, 19°45′ N latitudes located in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh state in India. The GIS based Morphometric analysis of this drainage basin revealed that the Erravanka palli watershed is 5th order drainage.......

Abstract: The heterogeneous and undifferentiated nature of rocks within the Basement Complex posed a serious challenge to any hydrogeological studies. Coupled with this is the discontinuity of the aquifers nature which is considered to be naturally localized. This study takes in to consideration the relationship between flow direction and flownet construction as indispensable preliminary studies necessary for adequate hydrogeological assessment of an area. The field work involved measurement of 950 hand dug wells within parts of Ilorin metropolis Southwestern Nigeria. This took place at the peak of dry season between December and March. Garmin GPS was used to measure.......

Abstract: High frequency radar backscatter experiments have revealed a spectrum of short wavelength
irregularities (i.e., 3m, 1m, 36cm and 11cm) in the Equatorial Spread-F [ESF] Ionosphere. Vertical drift of
metallic ion species from meteoric ablation regions (90-110 km ) further make ESF plasma dynamics
complex. In context with the smallest of all the observed irregularities i.e. 11 cmin the ESF region, kinetic lower
hybrid drift instability has been invoked to account for observations even well below ion gyroradius. Ion
dynamics has been considered separately for both O+ and Fe+ ionic species whereas Bhatnagar – Gross -
Krook collisional effects have been incorporated in the electron dynamics. Further, frequency and growth rate
estimates have been discussed in light of kineticion hybrid drift instability adopted earlier to account the unified
spectrum of small scale irregularities.

Abstract: The Lower Congo basin's Albian – Early Cenomanian Pinda group is the most productive carbonate reservoir within the West African margin basins. However, the understanding of its diagenetic features is very limited. Core samples obtained from the Democratic Republic of Congo offshore section of the formation were petrographically analysed to image the sedimentary facies along with diagenetic processes and links to reservoir quality. The sedimentary facies obtained indicate a dominant lagoon sedimentation within the oolitic – siliciclastic ramp. Diagenetic processes detected include micritization, dolomitization, dissolution, cementation, and compaction. Diagenetic links to reservoir.....

Abstract: The Nkoupwatershed (174 km2) islocated in the Noun plain, between longitudes 10 ° 35 '' - 10 ° 47 ° E and latitudes 5 ° 27 '' - 42''N. 73,918 of the 92,818 inhabitants in this area don't have direct access to a drinking water. Wells equippedwith HMP are the mostwidelyuseddrinking water structures aftersprings. Agricultural activities and sanitation structures scatteredaround the area make the quality of water drawnfromgroundwaterdoubtful. Boreholes are preferred, but theirscarcitytestifies to the caution of investorsgiven the number of dry wells and the high failure rate duringdrilling. It isimperative to find an aquifer in whichitis possible to install structures producing a good quantity of drinking water to meet the needs of the population. Abstract: Background: The BidaBasin is the least studied of Nigeria's inland frontier basins but is believed to have oil and gas resources. No exploration wells have been drilled in the basin. However, it has recently become a subject of intense debate because of the renewed commitment by the state oil company, NNPC to commence exploration in the Basin in a bid to raise the country reserves by 40 billion barrels by 2023. This has made it imperative to increase research efforts to characterize the basin in terms of its petroleum system elements and understand the environment of deposition of its sediments.......
