Title | : | Indianism in The Poems of Toru Dutt |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Maithili. S. Barahate |
Abstract: Indo-Anglian literature has occupied an outstanding place not only in India but in European countries also. Toru Dutt (1856-1877) was a remarkable Indo-Anglian Poetess who was like Keats. Toru Dutt interpreted Indian life before the Western world. The poetry of Toru Dutt is notable also for the feel of Indian life that it has been able to convey in a foreign language. It was her Indianism that led to the publication of "Sanskrit Sheaf" in 1882 by Kegan Paul entitled Ancient Ballads and Legends of Hindustan. Toru respected the Gods of ancient India, and her praise of Yama and other deities is evident everywhere. In Savitri and Sita she brings out her great admiration for the true Indian wife. Apart from Sita, her collection of verses includes life – portraits of Lakshaman, Jogadhya Uma, The Royal Ascetic and Hind, Dhruva, Buttoo, and Sindhu. The present paper is an attempt to bring forth the elements of Indianism in the above mentioned famous ballads by Toru Dutt.

Title | : | Prison A Changing Concept from Institution of Punishment to System of Reformation and Social Re-Entry |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Nawaz F. Khan |
Abstract: Prison system has a unique position in the society in which organizations compete either for economic resources or for the loyalty and support of group members. It is non competitive in the sense that no other organization challenges it directly. No society can be crime free and criminals are found in all age groups, among both sexes and in all strata of society. Apparently, the prison represents the worst of the social system. The attitudes of those who reject these values or who actively oppose their maintenance are regarded as criminals. Thus, a criminal is a person found guilty of a crime. The prisons mandate from the community in recent years increasingly includes the demand for treatment and reform of the inmates through modern psychiatric and social work techniques. Under the existing social condition, general social reform has become primary pre-condition for crime prevention. Social re-entry prepares the peers for re-integration into society. The aim of social re-entry is to form of application of an ideal society as it exists outside prison. The post-release networking phase specifically aims at equipping the prisoner with the requisite knowledge and skills to "face the world" upon release.

Title | : | Role of a Teacher in imparting Value-Education |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Ms.Yogini S Barahate |
Abstract: Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, our honorable president in his book "India2020: A Vision of the New Millennium' has rightly remarked that "If you are a teacher in whatever capacity, you have a very special role to play because more than anybody else it is you who are shaping the future generation. A teacher has a higher responsibility as compared to other professionals as students look upon the teacher as an embodiment of perfection. Education has become a business today. This has changed the outlook of the students as well as the parents and it has further resulted in deterioration of respect for teachers and all those who are a part and parcel of education system. Gautama Buddha has rightly preached "Desire is the root cause of Evil". Students are told not to fulfill their desires by improper ways, by adhering to immoral activities. The present paper is an attempt to state the importance of value education in the present education system so that the future generations will nourish high ideals and values to contribute in the development of the society and the role of a teacher in imparting values.

Title | : | Conflicts of Globalization: A Study of Kiran Desai's "The Inheritance of Loss" |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Nuzhat F. Rizvi |
Abstract: The present paper aims to bring forth Kiran Desai‟s concept of globalization as depicted in her Booker Award winning novel: "The Inheritance of Loss‟. Kiran Desai has deftly exfoliated the politics of liberalization, claims of globalization with the advancement of information technology which profess to create wealth and well being in integrating the cultural diversities, but the fact is there is a darker side where millions are deprived of the basic human rights.Desai‟s eventual concern in writing "The Inheritance of loss", was much more about making even the on-going conversation about globalization. With all optimism, often merited about global economy, Desai finds the other messier sides less discussed. In the background of colonial neurosis and multiculturalism, Kiran Desai explores the impact of globalization expressed in terms of financial security in alien lands, racial discrimination, bitterness of immigration, complexity of high tech society and disillusionment born out of the opulence of the West.
