Abstract: The paper presents finite element approach for the geometric nonlinear aerostatic analysis of self anchored cable-stayed bridges with different pylon configurations along with vehicular interaction. In the recent years cable stayed bridges have received more attention than any other bridge mainly due to Cable stayed bridge are the most flexible bridge and getting popularity because of its economy for longer spans and aesthetics. The results showed that these factors have significant influence on the aerostatic behavior and should be considered in the aerostatic analysis of long span cable stayed bridges. Analysis results will be useful for the designers to consider the shape of pylon at the initial stage of design..

Abstract: A performance-based seismic design (PBSD) method is aimed at controlling the structural damage based on precise estimations of proper response parameters. PBSD method evaluates the performance of a building frame for any seismic hazard, the building may experience. Use of this method for vertical irregular building is verified with comparison of conventional method. Vertical irregular frame is subjected to failures due to stiffness and strength reduction. This paper deals with application of performance based seismic design method for vertical irregular RC building frames(10 storied).Performance evaluation of conventional frames designed by conventional code method is compared with performance based seismic designed frames. The evaluation is carried out by Nonlinear Time History Analysis and Nonlinear Static analysis. The vertical irregular frames considered for study are with column discontinuity. Abstract: Electronic waste or e-waste is one of the rapidly growing Problems of the world. E-waste comprises of a multitude of components, some containing toxic substances that can have an adverse impact on human health and the environment if not handled properly. In India, e-waste management assumes greater significance not only due to the generation of its own e-waste but also because of the dumping of e-waste from developed countries. This is coupled with India's lack of appropriate infrastructure and procedures for its disposal and recycling. This review article provides a concise overview of India's current e-waste scenario, namely magnitude of the problem environmental and health hazards, current disposal and recycling operations, existing legal framework organizations working on this issue and recommendations for action.

Abstract: The Peninsular Gneissic complex is one the most ancient stable part of the Peninsular shield. It forms the basement for the younger Dharwar Supergroup which unconformably overlies them. Rocks that make up the Supergroup are one of the oldest rocks of the earth. The PGC has been rejuvenated so many times that it now appears to be younger than the overlying craton. The Supergroup has been divided into the Eastern Dharwar craton and the Western Dharwar craton. This paper deals with interpretation of the geochemical and petrographical data gathered from the samples collected around Dharwad city area.

Abstract: With growing population, industrialization, and urbanization, there is corresponding growth in the demand for infrastructure. It has occupied a unique position among modern construction materials. It gives considerable freedom to the architect to mould structural elements to any shape. Almost all concretes rely critically on being fully compacted. Insufficient compaction dramatically lowers ultimate performance of concrete in spite of good mix design. Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is an innovative concrete that does not requires vibration for placing and compaction. Popularity of using self-compacting concrete (SCC) in concrete construction is increased in many countries, since SCC is effectively applied for improving durability of structures while reducing the need of skilled workers at the construction site. Construction practice and performance, combined with the health and safety benefits, makes SCC a very attractive solution for both precast concrete and civil engineering construction.

Abstract: Based on 2:1 load dispersion method, an analytical expression is derived in this study that enables to compute the average vertical stress over a layer beneath the center of uniformly loaded square footings. The solution is presented in a dimensionless graphical form for allowing easier computations. The solution can also be applied in case of circular footings by replacing the circular footing by a square footing of equivalent area. Present solution does not require any point-stress equation or design chart and avoids multi-stage calculations. This solution may find immense application in estimating maximum settlement below uniformly loaded square/circular footings.

Abstract:Municipal Solid waste (MSW) generated at different locations is collected by the authority for its
further processing. A large amount of waste is deposited in the landfill site for its final disposal. This waste
consisting of organic matter in higher extent decomposes in the presence of aerobic and anaerobic
microorganisms and other favourable conditions and leads to the formation of the landfill gas (LFG). This gas
is a major contributor to greenhouse effect. If estimated properly, this gas can be used as the source of the
energy. A large amount of work has been carried out in estimation of the amount of LFG generated as well as
its rate of generation. Present paper reviews various Hard Computing methods and the soft computing methods
available for the landfill gas estimation.

Abstract:The development of new architectural forms of buildings and flexible structural systems are vulnerable to wind action. For desirable performance of these buildings, we require better understanding of interaction between building and wind. Structures are classified as rigid and flexible. This paper presents a comparative study of effect of wind on plans with different irregular shapes as I, C, T and L. The significance of this work is to estimate the design load of the structure subjected to wind in a particular region. The wind load is estimated based on basic wind speed and other factors as type of topography, terrain, and the use of building and its risk factor for that particular region.

Abstract:All the developed cities face transportation as a major problem along with municipal solid waste and sewage disposal. The level of pollution is also a serious matter. While becoming a smart city Pune cannot go by a single solution to such problem and there is a need to have integrated and environment friendly system that will make us (PUNE) unique in the world. In this paper an effort is made to push forward a monorail system on one corridor Nanded city to PMC. As the system like METRO and BRT are not feasible on routes on which turns and gradients are stiff. In Pune there is a possibility to run a monorail along 'MULA' and 'MUTHA' rivers considerable length and it can help connect all the other corridors of the city. Its economically, cost effectiveness, technical feasibility is discussed in the paper to come to a conclusion that MONORAIL can be an effective augmentation to other transportation systems on this particular corridor.

Abstract:Due to increase in population, parking spaces is big issue for the apartments in the cities. Hence new trend for utilize the ground storey for a parking. Also for office spaces or conference hall etc, soft story at different levels of structure are constructed. In the past earthquake has shown that the buildings with simple and uniform configurations are subjected to less damage. Regularity and continuity of stiffness in the horizontal planes as well as in vertical direction is very important from earthquake safety point of view. A building with discontinuity is subjected to concentration of forces and deformations at the point of discontinuity which may leads to the failure of members at the junction and collapse of building.

Abstract:A Tuned mass damper (TMD) is a device consisting of a mass, and spring that is attached to a structure in order to reduce the dynamic response of the structure. The frequency of the damper is tuned to a particular structural frequency so that when that frequency is excited, the damper will resonate out of phase with the structural motion. As tall buildings keep becoming taller, they become more susceptible to dynamic excitations such as wind and seismic excitation. For the structure safety and occupants comfort, the vibrations of the tall buildings are serious concerns for both engineers and architects. In order to mitigate the vibration, different approaches have been proposed, among which Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs) are one of the most preferable and have been widely used in practice.

Abstract:Ultra-Thin White topping (UTW) is a technology to construct 50-100mm thick cement concrete overlay
on distressed asphalt pavement as a rehabilitation technique. There have been several UTW projects completed in
India, the first in Pune, subsequently in New Delhi, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, and Thane. All projects have shown good
to excellent performance so far, indicating that this rehabilitation strategy can stand up to the Indian climate and
traffic conditions. The suitability of UTW rehabilitation for a particular site is dependent on several factors
including existing asphalt thickness, volume of truck traffic, base and sub-grade support, and pavement conditions.
This paper outlines the state-of practice in India for construction of UTW considering mix traffic, extreme climatic
conditions, use of indigenous materials and design aspects as per Indian Road Congress (IRC) guidelines.
