Abstract: MCM-41 supported Titanium catalyst (Si/Ti =150) and sulphate modified titanium catalysts were synthesized by sol-gel process. The potential of these catalysts was determined by acetalization reaction to produce solketal from glycerol. To understand the effect of sulphonation in this catalytic process, 1N H2SO4 was impregnated on
the surface of the Ti-MCM-41. The incorporation of Ti into the frame work of MCM-41 was authenticated by Fourier transformed IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and N2 -sorption studies reveal the existence of mesoporous structure and uni-dimensional pores. NH3-TPD results showed the generation of Lewis acid sites, which are due to incorporation of titanium (IV) into the silica frame work. Upon sulphonation the acidity on the surface of the catalysts increases and facilitates the conversion of glycerol.

Abstract: Metformin hydrochloride (metfHCl) chelates of lanthanides [La(metfHCl)3Cl3]3.5H2O (1), [Pr(metfHCl)3Cl3]3.5H2O (2), [Dy(metfHCl)3Cl3]3.5H2O (3), and [Eu(metfHCl)3Cl3]3.5H2O (4), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductance, thermal, LC-MS, IR and UV-Vis. From the findings, the formula structure were proposed with metal to metfHCl ratio as 1:3 and metfHCl as bidentate N,N- ligand..

Abstract: Evaluation of the anti-inflammatory effect of methanol, ethylacetate and N – hexane fraction extract of combretum Obanense stem bark plant using experimentally induced inflammatory models in rats. Inflammation (oedema) of the hind paw was induced by injecting 0.1 mL of fresh egg-albumin into the subplantar surface of the left hind paw.After 30 minutes, animals in groups 1, 2 and 3 received equal doses of 200 mg kg-1,orally of methanolic fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and N- hexane fraction of extracts respectively, while group 4 received acetyl salicylic acid (100 mg kg-1 per Os) andqroup 5 received only distilled water.After 5hours of oral administration of the extracts and the control, it is observed that N – Hexane, methanol fraction and ethyl acetate fraction extract......

Abstract: The study was conducted to assess the levels of organochlorine pesticide residues in river taraba, have been investigated using water, sediment and fish species to find out the extent of pesticide contamination and accumulation in the river. Total of fourteen (14) organochlorine pesticide residues were analysed which include Delta lindane, Alpha Lindane, Beta Lindane, Gamma Lindane, Heptachlor, Aldrin, Heptachlor Epoxide, Endosulfan I, Endosulfan II, P'P-DDE, P'P-DDD, P'P-DDT and Methoxychlor. The water sample was subjected to liquid-liquid extraction method while the fish and the sediment samples were subjected to soxhlet extraction. The extracts were later analysed for organochlorine pesticide residues using Gas-Chromatography coupled with mass spectrometer (GC-MS).......

Abstract: Background:This study was aimedat assessing the extent of remediated crude oil polluted soils in Nkeleoken, Eleme, Rivers State, Nigeria. Abstract: The interaction of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) metal ions with Salicylic acid (SAL), Tryptophan (TRP) and mixed ligand (SAL-TRP) have been studied potentiometrically. Potentiometric titrations were carried out at different temperatures. The protonation/stability constants and stoichiometries of the ligands, formed binary and ternary complexes have been calculated at I = 0.1 M KCl in 60-40 % (by v/v) Dimethylsulphuroxide (DMSO)-Water mixture.
