ABSTRACT: Forty Pasundan heifers were used in this study to know the reproductive performance of Pasundan cattle after being induced by prostaglandin hormone (PGF2α) and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). Experimental cows in each region were divided into 2 groups, namely group 1. A total of 10 experimental cows were vigorously synchronized using a combination of prostaglandin hormones (PGF2α, dinoprosttromethamine) at a dose of 5 ml/head intramuscularly 2 (two) times with an interval of 11 days. Group 2. The treatment was the same as in group 1, but on the 9th day, 2.5 ml /head of gonadotropin realizing hormone (GnRH, gonadorelin) was injected intramuscularly, to uniform fertility conditions and increase fertility. Cows in heat are immediately.

ABSTRACT: Fish and fisheries are excellent sources of nutrients to humans and animals and also serve as routes of zoonoses of great public concern. As a result of the role of fish in meeting the protein demand of consumers especially in rural areas, information on the parasites of fish becomes particularly important. This study aimed at determining the prevalence of gastrointestinal helminthes in Synodontis schall harvested from Otuogori River in Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. Forty (40) samples of S. schall were collected and examined in the laboratory using standard procedures. Out of this population, a total of 4 S. schall were positive to various intestinal helminthes, giving an overall prevalence of 10%. Three (3) helminth parasites; Diphyllobothrium spp. (50%), Capillaria philippinensis (25%) and Contracaecum species (25%) were recovered. Female fishes, 3 (15%), were more infected than male.......

ABSTRACT: Despite their importance in global and regional food production, smallholder farmers' especially in agro-pastoral regions have received minimal recognition in policy, strategic frameworks and interventions. In Kenya, there has been little focus by government and interventions on agriculture for smallholder farmers in agro-pastoral regions, thus, rendering them into numerous vulnerabilities and constraints that impede their agricultural activities. This study investigated smallholder farming characteristics on household food security in West Pokot County, Kenya. Multi stage and systematic random sampling techniques were used to determine a sample size of respondents in respective locations. This study adopted an explanatory research design and employed mixed methods approach......

ABSTRACT: Yam; Dioscorea species of cropsare multivariantstaples in Nigeria and are plagued by plant parasitic nematodes (PPNs).Four species of Dioscorea; D. rotundata (white yam), D. cayenensis (yellow yam), D. alata (water yam), D. dometerum were selected to determine therelationaship between PPNsload and the nutritional status of the tubers. Proximate analyses of the tubers were carried out usingstandard scientific methods while the Bearmann's and Sieving methods were used to determine the PPNsload of the tubers. D. cayensis (38.89%) had the highest nematode load while D. dometorum(8.47%) was the least infected. PPNsload decreased as tuber depth increased (outermost layers; 77.4% and the innersmost; 0%).Scutellonema species (48.0%)was the most prevalent PPN in all.....

ABSTRACT: African Giant snail (Achatina achatina)adelectable source of protein, good accumulator of heavy metals and a host to number of parasites was investigated to assess the parasite infestation and level of heavy metal concentration (Zn, Cr, Cd, Pb) in three communities located in Ogoni. Thirty (30) A. achatina were handpicked from June to October 2019. Their intestine, reproductive and head regions were examined for presence of parasites. The snail samples were also analysed for heavy metals. Seven types of parasites were identified and 80% of the snails examined were infected with parasites. Snails picked from Luubaara community had the highest prevalence of infection with 44% followed by Eeken with 31%, and Kaani with 25%. Cestodes where the most prevalent parasites being 67%, followed......

ABSTRACT:Background: Improvement of local rice phenotype characters for variety assembly, from generation to generation is the main thing in plant breeding. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of the characters of several M4 Sigupai genotypes resulting from gamma ray irradiation. (10) Materials and Methods: The design used in this study was a non-factorial randomized block design (RBD) with 3 replications. The treatments studied were the genotypes (G) consisting of 12 levels, namely the parent Sigupai (G0), the Mustajab National Mutant (G1) and 10 M4 Sigupai (G2-G11) with 3 replications to obtain 36 treatment units........
