ABSTRACT: The study investigated the nutritional quality of fungal composted substrates. The substrates namely: chicken feather, hair waste, egg membrane, cow horn and hoof were subjected to fungal (fusarium spp) composting for 7 weeks. The substrates were collected and characterized physicochemically and microbiologically. During the composting process, parameters such as temperature, total organic carbon, potassium, phosphorus, rate of degradation, pH and microbial counts, moisture, ash, carbohydrate, crude protein, fibre, lipid and fungal counts; were monitored using standard........

ABSTRACT: The study analyzes the determinants of technical efficiency of small-scale tilapia fish production in Kasama and Mbala districts in Northern Province of Zambia. Data were collected from 120 small-scale tilapia fish farmers using a two-stage sampling procedure and interviewed using a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and stochastic production frontier approach. Result of the stochastic production frontier shows that farm size (pond area), number of fingerlings, amount of labour, quantity of local feed, commercial feed, and livestock manure positively and significantly affected fish output. While using mixed seed fingerlings negatively affected fish production.....

ABSTRACT: Background: Nyctanthes arbor-tristis commonly known as Harsinghar, Night jasmine or Parijat. It is a shrub or small tree up to 10 m in height with gray to greenish rough bark distributed wild in Sub-Himalayan regions and Southwards to Godavari. The present study was an attempt to evaluate the analgesic activity of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis leaf extract. Method: Melonex was used as standard drug for evaluation of anti-inflammatory activity by Carrageenan induced hind paw oedema. The anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic, hydroethanolic, aqueous and chloroform extracts of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis was evaluated using carrageenan induced hind paw edema method.

ABSTRACT: In this study, compound rice with broken rice, lotus seeds and lentinus edodes were used as the main raw materials, and the lotus seed-lentinus edodes compound rice was prepared by twin-screw extrusion process. The sensory quality and protein digestibility in vitro of lotus seeds-lentinus edodes compound rice were evaluated by single factor test and response surface test. The effects of different extrusion parameters on sensory quality and protein digestibility in vitro of lotus seeds-lentinus edodes compound rice were investigated. Single factor test and response surface test were used to investigate the effects of different extrusion parameters on sensory quality and protein digestibility in vitro of lotus........

ABSTRACT: Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences was used to examine 65 entries from 1935 to 1975 65 entries were evaluated from a pedigree cum history sheet from department of animal husbandry and dairying under Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences. Skilled people raised and cared for the animals in identical feeding and management conditions. Milk yield (ML), Fat yield (FT), were the reproductive features investigated. The data revealed that the repeatability (r) with Standard Error (SE) for the Milk yield and Fat yield high repeatability (r = 0.78) for milk with Standard Error (SE = 0.15), fat yield (r=0.89, SE=0.14) respectively. The repeatability estimation of low for all of the performance different traits suggested that most of the observed variation in these traits was due to temporary genetics variance and environment condition culling cattle on the basis of early performance records would be of little value. Thus multiple records of cattle need to be considered while making culling decisions..

ABSTRACT: Biozyme and chitosan are emerging category of biostimulants that target to increase the production of strawberry and are used as alternative to agrochemicals due to the growing interest of consumers on healthy and safe products. However, due to exclusion of agrochemicals, strawberry production has declined by between 5-34% due to limited nutrition. The purpose of the study was to investigate the response of biozyme and chitosan on the growth, yield and quality of strawberry fruit. The experimental design was randomized complete block design with nine treatments replicated three times. The results showed that the use of 25ppm biozyme and 25ppm chitosan positively influenced the growth and yield of strawberry plant. Maximum number of leaves, plant height, flower number, fruits number.....

ABSTRACT: Background:Hydrops foetalis is a rare foetal anasarca or generalized edema encountered in sheep, other animals and humans. In this paper, the first clinically diagnosed case of hydrops foetalisin a Nigerian breed of sheep is reported. Case report: An Uda sheep, with the chief complain of prolong straining was presented to the Veterinary Clinic in Sokoto metropolis, Sokoto State Nigeria.Physical examination revealed marked abdominal distension; large, slightly immovable mass was felt on the ventral abdomen. Clinical examination through the vagina revealed dystocia due to foetal oversize and a caesarian section (CS) was recommended. After the CS, a large and edematous foetalcarcass weighing......

ABSTRACT:Background: Light intensity manipulation is a widely adopted management tool affecting broiler production, behavior and welfare. Most management guides recommend a reduction in intensity after the early brooding period but there is some debate as to the appropriate level that should be used. Heat burden causes many harmful impacts on poultry growth and meat quantity and quality. These effects cause several economic losses to poultry production. Materials and Methods: The current study was conducted in commercial farm, Ashmon, Menoufia Governorate. from January 2019 to February 2019 to study the effect of ambient temperature and different light intensities on body weight, growth....
