ABSTRACT: The effects of rice hull and different fertilizer sources on the growth and yield of carrot were evaluated at Abakaliki, in an asymmetrical 3 x 4 factorial experiment in three replications. Factor A was three rates of rice hull: 0ton ha-1 rice hull, 30ton ha-1 rice hull, and 60ton ha-1 rice hull whereas factor B was four fertilizer sources: 0 fertilizer, 20ton ha-1 poultry manure, 20ton ha-1 dry slaughterhouse refuse, and 300kg ha-1 NPK 15:15:15.The 60ton ha-1 rice hull had highest values for all parameters evaluated: days to 50% germination 11.75days, plant height 41.04cm, leaf number 9.92, root girth 9.48cm, root weight 92.75g, root length 16.65 cm, non-marketable.....

ABSTRACT: Organic agriculture (OA) is rarely practiced, despite its numerous advantages to human and environment. Evidence of profitability has been spotted as potential instrument for adoption. Although few studies have shown (OA) to be profitable, evidence of its profitability indices that will increase adoption is scarce. Thus, the profitability oforganically produced fluted pumpkin in Anambra State was examined. Multistage sampling technique was used. Ogbaru, Anambra west, Ihiala, Awka South, Idemili North and Anaocha Local Government Areas (LGAs) were purposively selected due to high dominance of fluted pumpkin organic farmers. Three villages.....

ABSTRACT: Two soil and crop management practices (mulching and trellising) were evaluated to assess their effects on the performance of 3 landraces of Telfaria occidentalis (fluted pumpkin). Mulching with dry guinea grass and trellising with wooden sticks were combined with 3 landraces of T. occidentalis (Ogoni, Ngwa and Iriebe) to give 12 treatments combinations, replicated 3 times in a 2 x 2 x 3 factorial experiment; fitted into a randomized complete block design. The parameters collected were seedling emergence, vine length, number of leaves, fresh and dry leaf yeld. Mulching negatively affected seedling emergence for the 3 landraces, although not significant at the level of probability used (P<0.05). mulching and trellising improved number of leaves and fresh leaf weight for the Ngwa (263.3 and 173kgh-1) and Iriebe (171.3 and 135kgh-1) landraces, respectively. The fresh weight yield of the landrace alone.....

ABSTRACT: This study aims to using of urea fertilizer on wheat plant productivity under sand soil conditions in the Sirte City. The research was carried out at the Experiment Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Sirte University During the year 2019. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The order of treatment is as follows: A = Control; B = 100 Kg N/ha = 1.1 g N/pot equivalent to 2.44 g urea/pot; C = 150 Kg N/ha = 1.6 g N/pot equivalent to 3.56 g urea/pot; D = 200 Kg N/ha = 2.2 g N/pot equivalent to 4.89 g urea/pot; E = 250 Kg N/ha = 2.7 g N/pot equivalent to 6.11 g urea/pot. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the higher the application of urea fertilizer, the higher the growth and production of wheat in sandy soils.

ABSTRACT: Nutrient mining in tropical soils due to continuous cropping necessitates the use of fertilizers of various forms to replenish depleted soil and improve crop yield. The choice of cultivars and nutrient supplementation are critical factor determining yield. An experiment was conducted at the college farm, Federal College of Education, Okene to determine the influence of four levels of fertilizer Viz. NPK 15:15:15 applied at 200 kg/ha, l0t/ha of poultry manure........

ABSTRACT: The examination of gills of the cichlid fishes Coptodon zillii that caught from Euphrates River passing through Al-Anbar Province, Iraq, revealed the presence of three monogenean species belonging to the genus Cichlidogyrus which include C. aegypticus, C. levequei and C. yanni. All these monogeneans are recorded here for the first time in inland water of Iraq. This also represents the first record of the genus Cichlidogyrus from fishes of Euphrates River at Al-Anbar Province. The three species are distinguished by the differences in the shape and size of the sclerotized parts of their haptors and in their male copulatory organs. The descriptions and measurements of these parasites as well as their illustrations are given in the present study......

ABSTRACT: Altitudinal gradients used as model templates for studies that analyze the adaptive features of the terrestrial plants under the influences of climate change. Ficus cordata subsp. salicifolia, is considered one of the most relict species distributed at the middle altitude of Gebel Elba. Its importance as a key stone species at tropical regions is frequently recorded. While in the subtropical regions it is less common. The main purpose of this work is to study the performance of this species at the marginal parts of subtropical region at Gebel Elba on the farthermost of the southern border of Egypt. Four functional traits have been selected to demonstrate its performance against environmental gradients and microhabitats. These traits are: plant height, diameter, leaf Area and crown cover.......

ABSTRACT: Background: This study aims to identify antibiotics and to know if their use takes into account the preservation of the health of broiler consumers. Materials and methods: This survey was based on a descriptive cross-sectional study. It was carried out with one hundred and thirty-two (132) breeders, including thirty-two (32) in Adiopodoumé and one hundred (100) in Agnibilekrou. Results: It appears from this study that all the breeders questioned use different families of antibiotics. There are a total of seven (7) families of antibiotics, of which the tetracycline family (96.96%) is the most widely used. Then come sulphonamides (93.17%),.....
