ABSTRACT: Rabies is a viral zoonosis that causes encephalomyelitis which results in death of almost all victims. Dogs are the main source of human rabies deaths, contributing up to 99% of all rabies transmissions to humans. This research is targeted at detection and phylogenetic analysis of a segment of N gene of rabies virus among dogs slaughtered for consumption in Benue State. Brain tissues were collected from 50 dogs slaughtered in Benue State, Nigeria. Direct fluorescent antibody test (DFAT) was used to screen for the presence of rabies virus antigen. Viral RNA isolated from DFAT positive brain tissues were subjected to the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) followed by sequencing of the amplicons. Phylogenetic analysis was done in relation to other isolates from the....

ABSTRACT: In this study, a pot experiment was carried out to study the response of some parameters of seed germination and seedling growth of presowing sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) seed treatments to four types of seed priming and three types of irrigation water. Seed priming treatments have been treated separately for soaking 12h in distilled water (Hydro- priming, DW), 500 ppm solution of Ammonium Molybdate (Mo), and magnetized water (physical priming, MW), while dry seeds representing unprimed seeds, as a control. While irrigation treatments involve three types of water: normal tap water (ITW), distilled water (IDW), and magnetized water (IMW).......

ABSTRACT: Background: This study was aimed at improving the reproductive performance of sexually matured snails (Archachatina marginata) fed different levels of protein in the supplemental diets.
Materials and Methods: This study was carried out between January to April 2020 at the Helvy Farms-WVED Cameroon located at Station Bamenda. 150 sexually matured adult breeding Archachatina marginata snails weighing between 43 and 58g, full shells free of any form of injury were acclimatized for four weeks during which time they would have to shed the eggs they came with before commencement of the study. These snails were randomly allotted to four treatments of different protein levels (16%CP, 18%CP, 20%CP, and 22%CP) and a control (natural plant feed) replicated three times with.......

ABSTRACT: In this study, the effects of LED lighting with different wavelengths on yield and quality were determined in the cultivation of curly leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. crisp). For this purpose, eight different light applications, namely White (W), red (R), blue (B), Far-red (FR), R+FR, B+FR, R+B, and R+B+FR, 16/8 of photoperiod and 200±20 μmol m-2 s-1 light intensity conditions were used in the research. The efficacy of the applications was tested under controlled conditions in the Sementel curly-leaf salad variety, in a climate room with a lighting system. In the experiment.....

ABSTRACT: Background: Previous research found that many factors affect the success of Jackfruit's seedling production. Among the main factors involved in successful of jackfruit's grafting are temperature and relative humidity. However, no previous study has investigated the relationship between budder's skill, discipline and performance on jackfruit's production. Until recently, there is no reliable evidence to show that grafting skill and discipline of budders influence the successful rate of jackfruit's grafting. Therefore, this study aimed to measure the involvement level and work performance of jackfruit's budders in assuring successful in jackfruit's grafting. Materials and Methods: The........

ABSTRACT: Field experiments were carried out on squash field during two successive seasons of 2017 & 2018 respectively, at the New Salheia district. Qualitative analysis of three different application spray volumes by applying two pesticides against controlling sucking insects on squash field, and received spray contamination on an applicator body through putting water sensitive paper cards at head, chest (right, lift) and also on legs, during spraying operations. Data indicated that, four factors affecting the rate which an applicator were contaminated; as follows, sprayer type, spraying period, application method and ambient spraying conditions. Also, dada illustrated that, conventional ground......

ABSTRACT: It is considered to improve the nutrients of poultry in different ways. It is now not only possible to predict voluntary feed intake accurately, but broiler feeds and feeding schemes may now be better using the more advanced models. Development of such prediction models has stimulated useful and purposeful research targeted at filling the gaps in our knowledge of critical aspects of the theory incorporated into these models. In this paper it is discussed the controversy that exists in designing and interpreting response experiments, and highlight some of the most recent challenges......

ABSTRACT: Irrigated Agriculture heavily depends on adequate water supply of good quality. This research was carried out in Sector F1 of the Jibia Irrigation Project, Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State, North West, Nigeria, with the aim of assessing water quality for irrigation purposes. A total of twenty (20) representative samples were randomly collected from the dam and main canals supplying water to the field. The samples were treated and analyzed for physical and chemical parameters. Generally, the main characteristics used to assess the quality of irrigation water are Total dissolved solids (TDS), Sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), Electrical conductivity (EC) and Residual......
