ABSTRACT: The increasing frequency of agricultural droughts and variability in rainfall patterns over the past three decades prompted this study, which analyzed 34 years of block-wise daily rainfall data (1988-2021) from Cuttack district, Odisha. The aim was to determine the long-term average and temporal variability of rainfall on weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual scales, with a focus on identifying strategies to mitigate production risks in the region. The average annual rainfall in Cuttack was 1597.6 mm, with August receiving the highest amount of rainfall (476 mm), followed by July (407 mm) during the monsoon season. A trend analysis on rainfall over.......

ABSTRACT: Background: The effect of a biologically active preparation derived from cyanobacteria on improving the quality of semen in breeding rams during the non-breeding season was studied. Materials and Methods: Rams in the experimental group were given an additional 7 ml of the biologically active preparation daily, along with their main diet, for 50 days. Results: The introduction of the biologically active preparation derived from cyanobacteria into the diet of rams led to a significant improvement in both qualitative and quantitative semen parameters during the non-breeding season. Sperm concentration increased by 40%, ejaculate volume by 71.4%, and the total number of spermatozoa in the ejaculate.....

ABSTRACT: Rice is the 3rd most consumed cereal in Kenya while production is merely 20% of the demand making the country a net importer of the commodity. With increased global concern on healthy foods, producing more rice to contribute to achieving food secure nation while conforming to environmental sustainability remains a subject of concern in the country. In this case, good agricultural practices are needed to strike the balance. This study was carried out during rice growing season (February – June, 2024) to investigate the effect of basal organic fertilizers; Rich Farm.....

ABSTRACT: Pesticides used in agriculture have the function of controlling pests, diseases and preventing the development and growth of weeds, increasing the quality and productivity of crops. However, when they reach unwanted targets, such as bees, humans and other living beings, they cause harmful damage to ecosystems. Neonicotinoids, insecticides widely used in monocultures, such as soybeans and corn in Brazil, are especially harmful to bees, whether native or exotic, interfering with the foraging and pollination performance of plants. The global decline in the bee population is related to the use of insecticides, a fact that directly threatens the production of various foods. Honey,.....

ABSTRACT: Biochemical parameters may be used as physiological indicators in birds. These values are influenced by species, age, sex, season, geographic region, nutrition, and physiological condition. They are also indicators of the health of birds housed in cage systems. The study of probiotic supplements, garlic and neem leaf powder on the biochemical parameters of caged broilers at a local livestock farm was conducted in 2023. The experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Design (RBD). There were six treatments including control, 4 sub groups with 3.....

ABSTRACT: The study examined fish value chain in Yobe state Northeast Nigeria. Value addition, profitability, efficiency in marketing and structure of the fish markets were assessed using data elicited in 2023 from 640 respondents. Four Local Government Areas in the state (Bade, Bursari, Geidam and Nguru) prominent in capture fish production were purposively selected for study. Six major value chain actors were identified and value added per Kg of catfish (Clarias gariepinus) was higher for fish processors (319.3/Kg) while, processed fish marketers had highest marketing.....

ABSTRACT: Low-income generation among Smallholder farmers could be attributed to their low sunflower commercialization with subsequent effects from their knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, commercializing efforts, and trust in critical stakeholders in the agricultural value chain. Thus, this study analyzed smallholder farmers' perception of sunflower commercialization, which may contribute to improving sunflower commercialization. A pilot study was carried out in Kabuchai Sub-County before the Kimilili Sub-County, Bungoma County, Kenya survey. 288 sunflower smallholder farmers were interviewed using an open and close-ended questionnaire where a multi-stage sampling.....
