Abstract: Perishable and damaged tropical fruits found in Nigeria which included watermelon, orange, pawpaw and
pineapple were used to produce mixed fruit wine, thus reducing the level of postharvest losses while creating
novel mixed fruit combination wines. The samples for sourcing the test organisms included yoghurt, ogi, ogiri
and ugba. However, the test organisms were isolated from only three sources. Lactobacillus fermentum was
sourced from ugba whileLactococcuslactis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae were isolated from yoghurt and palm
wine respectively. Genetic analysis was carried out on two of the samples for confirmation. The evolutionary
distances computed using the Jukes-Cantor.....

Abstract: Meat is a foodstuff rich in protein also it's very important for human nutrition. The quality is the set of characteristics conferred on it by its nutritional, technological, organoleptic and microbiological properties. The concept of meat quality is a complex concept that encompasses a multitude of different properties that can be influenced by the producer, the processor and even the consumer during the final preparation of the meat. The main objective of this review is to present the qualities of the meats consumed. This article also reviews the point of production and consumption of poultry meat in Tunisia. Meat quality data was collected from researched scientific publications.

Abstract: Plants cell and tissue culture have served as a methodology of physiology and biochemistry in quest to raise our knowledge in biotechnology and permits the regeneration of plants as clones and as transgenic. Most outstanding advantages offered by aseptic methods of clonal propagation over conventional methods are in a relatively short time and space a large numbers of plantlets can be produced starting from the single explant unlike conventional methods multiplication can be carried out throughout the year and In vitro growing plants are usually free from bacterial and fungal diseases virus eradications maintence of plantlets in virus free can also be rapidly achieved in cultures....

Abstract: Background: Almost all the part of the tree of Spondiasmombin is used for various herbal remedies for different conditions all over the world. Objective: This study aims to determine the effects of ethanolic leaf extract of Spondiasmombin on hormonal indices, lipid profile and enzymatic antioxidant activity on female albino rats. Materials and Methods: Thirty female albino rats, weighing 60-70g were randomly assigned into six groups of five rats per group. Group 1(control) received 1ml distilled water only; Group 2(control) received 1ml oil only; Group 3 received 0.14mg/g levonogestrel only; Group 4 received 0.7g/100g of S. mombin leaves extract; Group5 received 0.14mg/g levonogestrel....

Abstract: Background: Anthocleista vogelii leaves extract is used traditionally in Nigeria for the treatment and management of various diseases but with very little or no scientific evidence. Herein, the ethnopharmacological potential of A.vogelii methanol extract in the treatment of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced liver damage in albino rats was evaluated by determining different biochemical parameters in serum and tissues. Materials and Methods : The activities of serum liver enzymes like aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), concentrations of protein (total protein, albumin and globulin), and Lipid profile (concentrations of total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides) were evaluated using standard procedures...

Abstract: The nutritious and economic value of fluted pumpkin (Telfairia occidentalis Hook. F) Leaf cannot be overemphasized. Countless queries have stemmed this research study which was carried out at the National Soil Science Laboratory Research Farm of Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Umuahia, Abia State to investigate the influence of physical mutagens, (x-ray irradiation) on the vitamin and mineral levels in fluted pumpkin leaf in M1 and M2 generations. The treatments include 0.00 mGy, 6.75 mGy, 10.08 mGy, 14.08 mGy and 18.75mGy. The experiment was set up in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with five replications.........

Abstract: The physicochemical and bacteriological characteristics of sachet water obtained twice over a two-week period from 9 different sachet water companies located in Owerri West Local Government Area in Imo State were analyzed by standard methods. In addition, swabs were taken from the bag handle as well as inside the bag for analysis. Physical examination of the sachets revealed that only two of the nine water samples, AV and MB met the compliance levels set by the regulatory authorities in terms of label requirements such as registration number, manufacturing and expiration date and producers name and address. Data shows that in the first week, water samples AP and FR recorded the highest temperature.........

Abstract: Investigation was carried out on the effects of back and endocarp of Citrullus lanatus fruits on two bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, after determining the phytochemical composition of the fruit. Aqueous and ethanolic extracts of the plant were tested using agar well diffusion method at Concentrations of 50 mg/ml, 100 mg/ml and 150 mg/ml. the fruit were found to contain phytochemicals like tannins, saponins, flavonoids and glycosides, some at high occurrences, while some occurring moderately. It was observed that the ethanolic extracts showed high activity on E. coli (8.15 mm), but moderate activity on S. aureus (2.35mm).aqueous extracts were however less inhibitory active at all the test concentrations. The study showed that the fruit is useful in combating the activities of the test bacteria, and as a possible source of alternative useful drugs..
