Abstract: Background: The latest data from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2013 (GBD 2013) ranked cerebrovascular disease as the second largest contributor to death and disability adjusted life years worldwide after ischaemic heart disease.1,2Cerebrovascular disease ranks the first in frequency and importance among all the neurological diseases in adult life.
