Abstract: Proportion of elderly people is gradually increasing in Bangladesh. Higher risk of health problems declines the functional status among elderly people. The study aim was to assess the functional status of elderly people in rural community of Bangladesh. This was a descriptive study conducted from July 2018 to June 2019 among elderly people in one rural community of Mymensingh. A total of 85 elderly people aged 60 years old were participated in this study. A previously validated 23 item of SF-36 questionnaire was used to measure the variables. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, mean, and standard deviation was used to describe the sample characteristics and Inferential Statistics such as t-test, ANOVA, correlation statistics was used to test the relationship between the variables. Finding of the study shows that the mean functional status of the elderly people was calculated as 2.56 (SD=.91) out of 5 points.
