Abstract: The study revealed the impact of artisanal mining activities in Rimi gold mineralized area. The surface and ground water around the study area were sampled and analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) to determine the degree of pollution. The result of the analysis shows an elevated levels of Ag, As, Pb and Se in surface and groundwater in the study area which is above the World Health Organization (WHO) and Nigeria Industrial Standard (NIS) permissible limits thereby resulting in water pollution. However, the result of Cu, Ni, Zn and Au were within WHO and NIS permissible standards. The values of TDS in surface and ground water is above WHO permissible limits which may affect water quality parameters in the study area. The sources of these metals in water......

Abstract: This research focuses on predicting the formation pressure at an onshore oil field (X-Field) in the Niger Delta, Nigeria using offset well data by identifying the abnormal pore pressure zones in the field. The well logs of the three wells (GE_11, GE_12 and GE_13) were utilized for the study. RokDoc software was employed in the data analysis and interpretation. Eaton's and Miller's empirical models were employed in the determination of the abnormal pressure and estimating the formation pressure gradient at a given depth. The overburden trend and normal compaction trend were generated from density and resistivity logs while the shale trend was generated from the gamma ray logs. Sonic logs.......

Abstract: The present study focuses on the vertically stacked pattern of the Hawaz Formation in Murzuq Basin, west Libya. It is based on the conventional cores analysis and wireline log interpretation from wells T01, T02, T03 and T04. The Hawaz sandstones is considered the main reservoir target in block NC-186. The Paleozoic Hawaz Formation represents the Middle Ordovician Paleozoic age. Consisting of up to 95% sandstones it's classified in four lithofacies (H1-H4) based on sedimentary textures, sedimentary structure and biogenic features. Hawaz Formation has been deposited in shallow marine environments affected by wave and storm actions in variable energy regimes as the relative sea-level rose.......

Abstract: Geophysical campaigns based on the measure of electrical resistivity were carried out in the locality of Ery Makouguié 1 (South-East of Côte Ivoire) to map and evaluate the quantity of exploitable granite. The electrical resistivities were measured with the pole-dipole configuration for 2D tomography and with the Schlumberger device for control electrical surveys. The equipment used was a Syscal Pro Switch 42, which consists of a pulsed transmission and reception module. The results of this work have helped to map the high resistivity formations associated with the healthy granite. The analysis of the 2D sections shows that the depth of the granite roof would be between 0.15 and 52 m. They also reveal the presence of two fractures with hydrogeological potential which are located at ~20m depth and which could limit its exploitation. The 3D model defines an irregularly shaped, sub-cropping granite on the western edge of the prospect and projects its mineable potential at approximately 14 million tonnes of granulate..
