Title | : | Basin Modeling Of Parts of the Niger Delta: Thermal Maturity Evaluation and Prediction Of Petroleum Generation |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Nwokocha, F. I. || Oti, M. N. |
Abstract: Predicting petroleum generation is a critical issue in prospect evaluation for the deeper prospects because of its economic implications. This paper focuses on predicting hydrocarbon charge in the deeper zones of the Niger Delta using integrated basin modeling methods and techniques. Burial history and stratigraphic profiles were generated for ten wells using the available well data whereas extrapolations were carried out for depths beyond total depth penetrated using data from adjacent field and estimates from the global sea level curve..............

Title | : | Improvingfault tracingdetectionapplying 3Dant trackingseismic attribute |
Country | : | Egypt |
Authors | : | Adel Ali Ali Othman || Mohamed Abdel Aziz Mohamed || Mohamed Fathi Mohamed |
Abstract: Fault detection is one of most important steps in seismic interpretation either in exploration or in development phase. There are a variety of seismic attributes enhancing fault visualization and detection already used by interpreters. The ant-tracking attribute is available in petrel software. It emulates the behavior of ant colonies in nature and how they use pheromones to mark their paths in order to optimize the search for food. What we have done is working on ant -tracking attribute, which is a very powerful attribute in fault detection that can give us fault patches both automatically and manually......

Title | : | Prioritization of Balatira Watershed by Morphometric and Landuse Landcover Analysis, Atpadi Taluka, Sangli District, Maharashtra. |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Gajul, M.D || Mujawar.K.C || Unhale P.L || Prabhakar.P |
Abstract: Today the world is facing the biggest crisis of water. The available both surface and groundwater resources are not sufficient to the water requirements for all purpose. Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System have emerged to meet ever increasing demand for more precise and timely information. These techniques permit rapid and cost effective natural resource survey and management. The morphometric analysis of the drainage basin and channel network play an important role in understanding the geo-hydrological behaviour of drainage basin and is manifestation of the prevailing climate, geology, geomorphology, hydrology......

Title | : | Watershed Prioritization Based On Geo-Morphometry And Land Use Parameters – An Approach To Watershed Development Using Remote Sensing And GIS, Neora Watershed, Darjeeling And Jalpaiguri Districts, West Bengal, India |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Ms. Rekha Biswas || Dr. Sandipan Chakraborty |
Abstract: Watershed prioritization has gained immense importance in natural resource management, especially in the context of watershed restoration and integrated watershed development. Here, morphometric parameters and land use-land cover analysis has been considered as basic elements and applied to prioritization of sub-watersheds. The quantitative analysis of morphometric parameters and land use-land cover is found to be of immense utility in watershed prioritization for water balance, runoff coefficient facts, runoff concentration, soil and water conservation and natural resources management at micro level..........

Title | : | A Preliminary Assessment of the Hydrocarbon Potential of Kerio Valley Basin: Gravity and Magnetic Interpretation |
Country | : | Kenya |
Authors | : | Abiud Masinde || Cleophas Simiyu || Innocent Murunga || George Muia || Aaron Waswa || Justus Barongo |
Abstract: The aim of the study was to assess the hydrocarbon prospectivity of the Kerio Basin in the Kenya Rift. Regional gravity and magnetic data sourced from the International Gravity Bureau (BGI) and Earth Magnetic Anomaly grid (EMAG2) respectively, were processed and analysed for major structures and geological anomalies based on variations in density magnetism and or chemistry of the rocks.Gravity Isostacy data shows low gravity anomalies of up to -100mGals that depict a deeper basement prominent to the southern part of the study area. Gravity profiles show that sediment thickness gradually increases to the south where we expect hydrocarbon accumulation...........

Authors | : | Onoja S.O || Okwoli.E || Maji M.A || Abdullahi. R.U || Akinola A.M |
Abstract: A Geoelectrical investigation was carried out along a segment of the Ajaokuta- Itobe highway in Kogi State, North-Central Nigeria with the aim of establishing the cause(s) of the failure of that portion of the road. Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) involving the Schlumberger array and 2-D imaging using the dipole-dipole configuration were both utilized along a 200m traverse established parallel to the road covering both the stable and failed portions. Four subsurface geologic layers were inferred from the result of the 2D imagine............

Title | : | Application of Euler Deconvolution and Forward Modelling Techniques in Estimating Depth to Magnetic Structure in Lake Baringo Area, in the Kenyan Rift |
Country | : | Kenya |
Authors | : | Seurey.P || GithiriJ.G. || AmbussoW. J. |
Abstract: Ground magnetic survey was carried out in the study area with the aim of locating depth estimates to bodies with sufficient magnetic susceptibility contrast that may represent magmatic intrusions. The magnetic data was corrected, a total magnetic intensity contour map produced and profiles drawn across discerned anomalous regions.Two dimensional (2D) Euler deconvolution was applied on the selected profiles of reduced ground magnetic data. Geologic constraint was imposed by use of a structural index of 1.0 that best describes prismatic bodies like intrusive sills and dykes...........

Title | : | Prioritizing Groundwater Potential Zones Using Morphometric Analysis: A Case Study of Gulbarga Watershed |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Bharathkumar L, MA || Mohammed Aslam |
Abstract: Prioritization of watershed is an important step in conserving and managing water resource. Morphometry is the measurement and mathematical analysis of configuration of the earth's surface, shape and dimensions of its landforms. Drainage characteristics are important analysis to study the prevailing Lithology, Soil, Geomorphology and Slope of an area. An attempt had been made to prioritize the subwatersheds into Groundwater prospect zones as very good, good, moderate, poor and very poor groundwater prospect zones. Drainage networks are extracted from Cartosat DEM data. Watershed is delineated using hydrological tools in ArcGIS 10.1..........
