ABSTRACT: The soils of Ghana vary with location due to difference in parent material and climate with low productivity. Biochar is increasingly proposed as an amendment that can improve soil productivity but its effectiveness is texture dependence. Therefore, this study was carried out to find out if biochar application is effective for all soil textures in northern Ghana. To achieve that soil data (texture, organic carbon, soil depth and bulk density) were obtained for 35 locations (cultivated and uncultivated) were collected across the northern regions. A validated crop model......

ABSTRACT: The culture was conducted in three ponds, each sized 0.7, 0.7, and 0.4 hectares in Pucchakurthivaari palem, Andhrapradesh, and an intensive culture system was selected under bore water circumstances. Sy aqua seed was collected from Manjunaadha hatcheries; the L. vannamei seed was provided from the CAA-certified Ulavapaadu village in the Prakasam district, Andhrapradesh. The stocking densities of L.vannamei PL10 (post larvae) were calculated using three samples, each of which had 23, 37, and 28 species/m2 and 59, 60, and 51% survival rates. The......

ABSTRACT: It is commonly observed that decline in soil quality leads to decrease in the production and high cost of food in Ebonyi State. This study therefore identified soil degradation management techniques among small holder farmers for sustainable crop production in the state. Three specific purposes and three corresponding research questions guided the study. The study was a descriptive survey design and used questionnaire to elicit information from 198 respondents made up of 162 crop farmers and 36 extension agents. Data gathered from the respondents were analyzed using mean to answer the research questions......

ABSTRACT: Adoption of intercropping has the potential to make efficient use of scarce land resource in densely populated AEZs of western Kenya and provide both livestock feed and human food while ensuring climate resilience. Most studies have focused on one intercrop while in this study, we tested Maize-Desmodium intercrop with vegetables on system productivity and land equivalent ratio (LER). Field experiment was conducted during short rains of 2023 and long rains of 2024 in Maseno to determine the effect of integrating kales and African nightshade into Maize-Desmodium......

ABSTRACT: Fertilizer discharge process is a critical part of fertilizer application, as it affects the fertilizer discharge rate and uniformity of fertilizer application. Aiming at the poor fertilizer discharge problem of the traditional straight grooved wheel fertilizer applicators, an improved spiral grooved wheel fertilizer discharge device was designed, and the structural parameters of the spiral grooved wheel applicator were analysed.......

ABSTRACT: The present study evaluated the effect of sulphur and zinc applied to soil on nutritional quality of paddy straw (Oryza sativa L.) for ruminant feeding. Field experiment was conducted using four levels each of sulphur (0, 15, 30 & 45 kg ha-1) and zinc (0, 3, 6 & 9 kg ha-1) comprising sixteen treatments with three replications in factorial randomized block design. Alone application of zinc showed an antagonistic effect on phosphorus and calcium content while sulphur application significantly improved their concentrations in paddy straw. In comparison to control, combined.......
