Abstract: The pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin1β (IL-1β) gene is a member of the IL-1 gene family clustered on Chromosome 2.Several studies have reported that interleukin-1 ß enhanced HIV-1 replication, suggesting that this cytokine may be contributing to the pathogenesis and progression of HIV infection. Therefore, we aimedin this study to investigate the association between polymorphisms in the IL-1β(-511) and HIV-1/AIDS infection in North Indian population. Methods: Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) were used to analyze IL-1βC/T at (-511) polymorphism in 300 positively diagnosed cases with HIV-1/AIDS and an equal number of negatively diagnosed controls of the matched age. Results: No significant differences on the allelic and genotypicfrequencies were found among cases and control groups. Conclusions: The present study on the Indian population showed no significant association between IL-1βC/T (-511) polymorphism and the risk of HIV-1/AIDS infection.

Abstract: Post-harvest pests cause serious losses to agricultural products in Africa. The pests consist mostly of beetles or moths and infest the grains at the crop stage or during the storage. Larger grain borer, Prostephanus truncatus (Horn), causes maize-grain losses during storage ranging from 30% to greater 40% of total production in 6 months. It reduces germination potential of maize grain and increases the grain's moisture content thus accelerating contamination by fungi and bacteria. The aim of this study was to determine the insecticidal extracts and compounds from Ocimum suave. Percentage mortality of the insects were recorded 1, 2, 14 and 21 days after.......

Abstract: Creatine is a breakdown product of creatine phosphate from muscle and protein metabolism in human. It is released at a constant rate by the body, and an approximately half of creatine originates from food. The results of the creatine tests can provide a very strong indication of how well the kidneys are functioning. The normal ranges for a creatine test are: 0.5 to 1.1. Milligrams (mg) per deciliter (DL) in women, 0.6 to 1.3 mg/DL in men and 0.5 to 1.0 mg/DL for children ages 3 to 18 years. If the level of creatine increased it could be the symptoms of Chronic or acute kidney disease, Congestive heart failure Diabetes Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) Urinary tract obstruction, Muscular dystrophy and other muscle diseases. If your creatine test results are low, you may have: Severe liver disease......
