Authors | : | Ms. Richa Modiyani || Mr. Rakesh Gagade || Ms. Rimzim Menghwani |
Abstract: This paper provides a broad overview of the employment situation among graduates which is a major concern of government and their social partner throughout the region. In India, a stated objective of economic policy planning is achievement of high rates of growth of the economy and sustained improvement in the standards of living of people. However, despite impressive economic growth over the years, the situation on employment front leaves much to be desired. Growing integration of our economy with the global economy has increased the susceptibility of the economy to the vagaries of global economic forces.

Title | : | Capital Market and Economic Growth Nexus: Evidence from Nigeria |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Okoh, Johnson Ifeanyi || Eke, Robert Ike (FCA) |
Abstract: This paper examined the capital market and economic growth nexus in Nigeria using data on real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and capital market variables such as market capitalization, total value of shares traded, total new issue of shares. Dividend yield, government stock and gross capital formation were included in the study as control variables. All data were obtained from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) statistical bulletin and Nigerian Stock Exchange fact book which span across 1982 to 2012. Data stationarity were ensured using the Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) statistic, while the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) statistical tool was utilized for data analysis. Results of the analysis showed that capital market variables have a statistically strong positive relationship with GDP and as expected, capital market has statistically significant effect on economic growth.

Title | : | A paradigm shift: Effect of government proposed policy on cost sharing for university staff salaries on Open & Distance Learning: A case study of the Zimbabwe Open University |
Country | : | Zimbabwe |
Authors | : | Dominic Uzhenyu |
Abstract: The government of Zimbabwe has for the past 20 months been facing challenges of paying employees in state universities. Payment has been so erratic that at times it stretches to two weeks into the following/next month. Government has since been contemplating putting a new policy to have cost sharing of the huge salary bill with state universities like Zimbabwe Open University(ZOU) and 8 others. The policy was still a hot debatable issue since around April 2015 when it was mooted. Universities are supposed to pay about a third(33%) of their staff salary bill while government should pay the remaining two thirds (67%) initially.

Title | : | Collective Bargaining in the Public Sector, a Panacea to Perpetual Conflicts and Labour Unrest (Strikes): A Study of Zimbabwe Experiences. |
Country | : | Zimbabwe |
Authors | : | Dominic Uzhenyu |
Abstract: The issues of salary negotiations and other conditions of service in Zimbabwe's public sector, have always been contentious issues following the failure by both, the employer (government) and employees (civil servants) to seriously engage in collective bargaining for time immemorial. The civil servants through their representatives, staff associations and their coalition body, the Apex council have often resorted to collective job action or labour unrest in a bid to force government to accede to their demands. This has always resulted in poor labour relations between the two parties.
