Abstract: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine-metabolic disorder characterized by multiple hormonal imbalances, reflecting on a clinical presentation dominated by manifestations of hyperandrogenism, which generate short and long-term consequences on female health [A1]. Among these, infertility is one of the most alarming associated morbidities, as it currently affects approximately 48.5 million women aged 20–44 years [A2], with PCOS accounting for 6–15% of these cases [A3], although up to 70% of women with PCOS may be undiagnosed [A4].

Abstract: Background ; Congenital lobar emphysema is a rare cause of respiratory distress in neonates and infants. It is characterized by over-inflation of one or more lung lobes which is due to localized air trapping that compresses the ipsilateral and contralateral normal lungs. Material & methods; Four cases are reported over a period of 2 years. Clinical and morphological data are collected. Results ; Four cases in neonates from 45 days to 6 months. Not associated with any syndromes or other anomalies. Not associated with family history. Conclusion : Very rare disease, can be corrected by surgery.

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: COVID-19 has significant impact on health care delivery system across the globe. It has been reported that hospital admissions due to ACS declined significantly in western world, suggesting less hospital visits by patients with cardiovascular diseases. However, data regarding the effect of this pandemic and its impact at the level of health sector of Indian cardiovascular diseases are meagre. AIM: Aim of the study is to analyse the impact of this pandemic on presentation and outcomes of ACS patients during this pandemic and to compare the effect of increasing pandemic on this population. METHODS: Our study is a Retrospective, comparative study done at Apollo hospitals, Visakhapatnam. Patients presented to our centre with ACS from 1st March2020 to 31st August 2020 were included in the study. The population was divided into two groups based on the number of reported COVID patients in the community. The first group (Group-1) comprised of the patients presented to our hospital from 1st March 2020 to 31st May 2020......

Abstract: Background: Idiopathic pulmonary hypertension (IPH) is an uncommon diagnosis in children that can lead to significant morbidity. In resource limited setting, management of affected patients can be quite challenging. We present a case of IPH in a 3-yr old girl, highlighting some of the challenges in the diagnosis and management of the patient. Case Report: HR, a 3-year-old girl presented with recurrent breathlessness, cough and body swelling since the age of 3 months. She was referred for further evaluation on account of persistent symptoms despite treatment for bronchopneumonia and 2 months course of anti-tuberculous drugs.........

Abstract: Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has spread over the world. Although there are minimal microbiological and antibiotic data on COVID-19, bacterial co-infections have been related to poor outcomes in respiratory viral infections. Adequate antibiotic use in conformity with antibiotic stewardship (ABS) recommendations is necessary during the pandemic. Material and procedure: We conducted a retrospective single-center cohort analysis of 140 adult hospitalised patients (ages 17–99) with confirmed COVID-19 who were admitted between February 16, 2021, and April 22, 2021, and who were discharged on May 6, 2021. From 140 COVID-19 participants, the following clinical data........

Abstract: Background: With the advent of the Doppler study the assessment of maternal & fetoplacental circulation has reduced maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. The information on the placental resistance was obtained from the uteroplacental and fetoplacental circulation and Doppler waveform analysis could assess the fetal circulation non-invasively using the fetal response to hypoxia. So it is possible to identify high risk fetuses that were at increased risk of morbidity and mortality due to impaired maternal and fetal circulations and implement corrective measures. This study determines the role of Umbilical artery, Uterine Artery and Middle cerebral artery Doppler ultrasound in predicting adverse perinatal outcomes in suspected high risk pregnancies and to focus on the role of Doppler velocimetry in clinical management of high-risk pregnancies......

Abstract: Background: Type 2 Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder associated with increased mobidity and mortality. Raised serum ferritin levels reflects the increased body iron stores and is often associated with insulin resistance and increased incidence of Type 2 diabetes. Objective: The study aims at estimation and comparison of FBG ,PPBG,HbA1c and serum ferritin in Type 2 diabetics and controls and establish a relationship between FBG,PPBG,HbA1c with serum ferritin. Material and methods: A total of 100 subjects were included in the study 50 controls and 50 patients with Type 2 diabetes.......

Abstract: A fistula is defined as an abnormal connection between two structures or organs or between an organ and the surface of the body. In the case of perianal fistula, it is a connection between the anal canal and the skin of the perineum. It predominantly affects young males, with a male-to-female ratio of 2:1. The most common presenting symptom is discharge , but local pain due to inflammation is also common . Although imaging techniques played a limited role in evaluation of perianal fistulas in the past, it is now increasingly recognized that imaging techniques, especially magnetic resonance (MR) imaging play a crucial role........

Abstract: Fractures of the subtrochanteric femur are common and the treatment of unstable fractures generally requires an operative approach. Despite the advancement of several fixation devices, treatment of unstable proximal femoral fractures remains a challenge. This study aims to find the efficacy of the Reverse LISS Plate for unstable subtrochanteric femoral fractures. Materials and methods The study was carried under the department of Orthopedics, SRG hospital and medical college, Jhalawar during the period of June 2019 to December 2020 including 20 patients with unstable proximal femur fractures treated with reverse LISS plating system.......
