Abstract: This study focuses on an aspect of the military, which is command. Command is based on language use, and it is the core facilitator of military functions. The study investigates the functional significance of command terms and expressions used for the Nigerian Army Day Celebration Parade to reveal the stylistic features and stylistic effects of this variety of language use. The military profession is not open to the public, considering the secluded nature of the profession. The study brings to light the core element of the military operation, which is the use of language, specifically, the use of command terms and expressions in the coordination of Nigerian Army activities.
