Abstract: Currently, education is shifting its emphasis from test scores to individual growth. How to effectively implement a student-centered approach in teaching remains a question worthy of ongoing consideration. Using humanistic educational theory as an analytical framework, this study offers an in-depth interpretation of the film Dead Poets Society. Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Rogers’ student-centered educational philosophy, it systematically analyzes Keating’s specific behaviors in the classroom and their impact on students. The study finds that Keating’s role can be understood on three levels: as a practitioner of student-centered education, an awakener of students’ potential for self-actualization, and a builder of equal teacher-student relationships....
