Abstract: In the present paper we have reported a simple and convenient titrimetric method for the determination of some Antihypertensive drugs in pure form and in their pharmaceutical preparations e.g. Propranolol, Metroprolol, Methyldopa, Labitalol and Enolopril by using Potassiumdipertelluratocuprate (III) as an oxidizing reagent. The present reagent is being used for the oxidation of several class of organic compounds. Aliquots containing 1-5mg of the sample were taken in 100mL stoppered conical flask, 5ml of 0.035N Potassiumdipertelluratocuprate (III) and 10mL of 5N H2SO4 was added to it. The reaction mixture was shaken thoroughly and allowed to react for required reaction time (5-15 min) at room temperature (25-300C). After the reaction was over 5mL of 10% KI solution was added to it.

Abstract: Cholestane (C27H48), the parent compound of all steroids, is obtained by the removal of hydroxyl group (from C3 position) and reduction of double bond (between C5 and C6 atoms) from the basic cholesterol nucleus. A total number of twenty-three structures of cholestane derivatives were obtained from the CSD for a comparative analysis of their crystallographic structures, computation of their possible biological activities and molecular packing interaction analysis. Intermolecular interactions of the type X-H…A [X=C,O, N; A=O, Cl, N, Br, F] have been analysed for a better understanding of molecular packing in cholestane class of steroids and discussed on the basis of distance-angle scatter plots, with the following key questions in the background:(i) Which of the interactions, viz. C-H…O, O-H…O, N-H…O, C-H…Cl, C-H…N, C-H…Br, C-H…F, O-H…N, are dominant in cholestane class of steroids? (ii) Is there any preference of linearity for different hydrogen bonded interactions? (iii) Preparing a small dedicated compendium of crystallographic data, biological activity and hydrogen bonding interactions on a relative scale?

Abstract: Silk is a very fine, regular, translucent natural animal protein fibre. Raw and degummed silk fibre were dyed with extracted vegetable dyes, such as catechu brown, waste dab shell and waste banana stem dyes mixed with Reactive Red - 120. Silk fibre becomes more permanently even and bright when it is dyed with 2.0 - 3.0% of the mixed dyes. In each case, optimum conditions of dyeing were determined and fastness characteristics were studied.

Abstract: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the levels of paraoxonase-1 in sera of male with hyperlipidemia divided according to Fredrecson ҆s classification and to find the correlation of paraoxonase-1 levels with lipid profile in these patients .The study included (22) healthy Iraqi male as control group (G1) and (62) male diagnosed with hyperlipidemia which divided into three groups according to Fredrecson ҆s classification as follows :Group (2) consist of (20) male with hypercholesterolemia [Type I] , group(3) consist of (20) male with hypertriglyceridemia [Type IIa]and Group (4):consist of (22)male with hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia [Type IIb] .The age of all studied groups ranged between (21-50)years and BMIwith (19.8-24.3) Kg/m2.Serum was used in determination of FBS, lipid profile , and paraoxonase-1.

Abstract: To screen the Phytochemicals from various extracts of Dalbergia sissoo leaf, pod and bark. All the extract were prepared . These extracts were dried to solid matter and subjected to qualitative Phytochemical investigations for the identification of different Phytochemical components. From the result obtained it can be concluded that alcoholic extract of leaf and bark of Dalbergia sissoo has significant Phytoconstitutents (viz flavonoids, Glycosides and tannis).

Abstract: An assessment of the geotechnical parameters as causative agents in the formation of gullies in Ankpa area of north central Nigeria is presented. Gully erosion is an environmental hazard that is ravaging the landscape of Ankpa and its environs. Geologically, Ankpa falls within the Anambra Basin which is linked with the development of the Niger Delta Miogeosyncline and the opening of the Benue trough and underlain by sandstone of the Ajali Formation. Geological field work was carried out to assess the causes and extent of the gully erosion menace using traverse method. Soil samples were collected from gully sites and trial pits dug at varying depths for geotechnical analyses..

Abstract: The micellization and thermodynamic properties of Sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) in ethylene glycol-water mixture has been studied at various mole fractions (X) of the solvent mixture and at different temperatures through conductivity measurements. The critical micelle concentration of SDS decreasedas the mole fraction of ethylene glycol (EG) increasedatconstant temperatureand increased with increasing temperature at constant mixture composition. Similarly, the degree of micelle ionization was inverselyproportional to mixture composition but directly proportional to temperature. Thesetrends are indicative of the interactions of SDS ionic head groups and the association of SDS molecules with the binary mixed solvents. The properties of the mixtures also indicate spontaneous formation of thermodynamically stable micelles.

Abstract: The PANI-2AP-GOD biosensor for determination of glucose has been described. The enzyme, glucose oxidase (GOD) was immobilized by cross-linking via glutaraldehyde on a polyaniline–2amino pyridine (PANI-2AP) composite film. The PANI-2AP film was electrochemically synthesized on Indium–tin-oxide (ITO) coated glass plate. We have synthesized PANI-2AP film with 0.1 M aniline, 0.025 M 2-AP at 3.0 pH and 1 mA/cm2 current density. The immobilization was done by cross-linking 2 mg/ml GOD via 0.1% glutaraldehyde at 0.1 M phosphate buffer with 7.0 pH. The synthesized composite films were characterized using galvanostatic electrochemical technique, electrical conductivity, UV–Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The cross-linking of enzyme and porous morphology of the polymer film leads to high enzyme loading and an increase in lifetime, stability and fast response time of the enzyme electrode.

Abstract: In this study, the behavior of prepared zeolites with a 1.5 Si/Al ratio in different crystallization temperatures was investigated. In this work, the samples were synthesized from hydrogel solution which being prepared using silica solution and sodium aluminate powder as precursors in the presence of different bases. The sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and ammonium hydroxide are the most bases used in the present paper. The amount of precursor's materials which used in resulting hydrogel with appropriate mole ratio was calculated. All samples for this research were prepared by agitation at room temperature for one hour then the mixture was aged for one day at the same temperature. All others parameters of the synthesis were stayed the same. The crystallization temperature was done at 60,80, and 100 °C for 24 hours. The obtained product is dried in an oven at 100°C for 8-12H. Abstract: New series of Ca(II), Cd(II), Ce(III), Cr(III),Cs, Fe(II) ,Fe(III) , Pb(II) and Hg(II) complexes with sulfacetamide(N-[4-(amino-phenyl)sulfonil]acetamide) have been synthesized. The measured molar conductance values indicated that the complexes are non-electrolytes. These compounds have been characterized by different physico-chemical techniques like, melting point, elemental analysis, inductively coupled plasma (ICP), FT-IR,1HNMR,UV spectroscopy, conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility and Mass spectral analysis. Spectroscopic studies suggested that most of complexes were coordinated in a regular octahedral arrangement by, two N amino and two O acetamido atoms in 2:1,(ligand, metal molar ratio respectively).
