Abstract: This study applies post-stack acoustic impedance inversion to investigate the lateral variability of reservoir properties within the Paleogene Heimdal Formation in the northern North Sea. The analysis utilised 3D migrated partial stack seismic data, 2D CDP gathers, and petrophysical data from five wells penetrating the Heimdal Formation. Well-log derived acoustic impedance models were integrated with seismic data to generate acoustic impedance, velocity and porosity volumes. The inversion results showed that the acoustic impedance values varies from approximately 2000 to 5700 m/s*g/cm3indicating significant spatial heterogeneity within the reservoir. The relativity......

Abstract: Fluid substitution modeling is an essential rock physics technique for evaluating the seismic response of reservoirs under varying pore-fluid conditions. This study investigates the influence of fluid substitution on the elastic properties of the Heimdall Formation reservoir in the Northern North Sea using Gassmann's fluid substitution theory. Well log data comprising compressional-wave velocity (Vp), shear-wave velocity (Vs), density, porosity......

Abstract: Groundwater is useful for various applications depending on its chemistry. Surface and subsurface water are both important source of water for domestic, agricultural and industrial uses. The physico-chemical parameters of groundwater of the study area which falls within Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State, Northeastern Nigeria were studied to ascertain the water quality. A total of twenty (20) water samples were directly collected from Motorized and Hand pump Boreholes within the study area. The GPS coordinates were recorded and the physical parameters of Temperature, Total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity and pH were measured in-situ for each sample......

Abstract: This study applies AVO analysis to the Paleogene Heimdal Formation reservoir in the northern North Sea to predict lithology, pore fluids and seismic properties at interfaces in the Heimdal Formation sands. The study integrates well-log data, prestack Common Depth Point (CDP) gathers, and rock physics analysis to evaluate elastic property contrasts across key reservoir interfaces. AVO modelling was performed using Shuey's approximation, while intercept-gradient analysis, elastic contrast analysis, and supergather enhancement were employed to......

Abstract: Reservoir fluid discrimination from seismic data is inherently uncertain because of the overlap in elastic prop-erties between lithologies and pore-fluid types. This study evaluates the capability of statistical rock physics to characterize fluid-related changes within the Paleocene Heimdal Formation turbidite reservoir in the northern North Sea. Five exploration wells, 2D common-depth-point (CDP) gathers, 3D migrated partial-stack seismic volumes, and......
