ABSTRACT: Background: This study questioned whether Fluridone could persist beyond 12 months in the slightly acidic sandy loam soil of the Niger Delta, Nigeria, when its channel of contact with the soil was direct via irrigation water or indirect through foliar spray. It also questioned whether soil nitrogen fertilization affects the expression of the characteristic Fluridone toxicity effects in maize plants (bleaching of leaves). Materials and Methods: Using the heavy feeder maize plant in a screenhouse bioassay, this experiment consisted of three soils collected after a yam Fluridone study in which 30 μM Fluridone was applied to the soil via irrigation water (SFIA), foliar spray (SFFA........

ABSTRACT: Two field experiments were carried out during the 2013/2014 season and 2014/2015 at the Department of Horticulture Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Omar Al-Mukhtar University in El-Beida -Libya, with the aim of studying the effect of the two varieties of garlic Allium sativum L., (Egyptian and Chinese), and the weight of its cloves used as very small seeds (1.3 g), small (2.2 g), medium (3.4 g), and large (4.5 g). The study was carried out according to the design of the complete randomized block with three replications, in both experiments. To study the main effects and the different interactions between these factors on the characteristics of vegetative growth, and the garlic leaf content of some mineral elements N, P, K and chlorophyll (a, b).The results obtained showed that there were significant differences between the studied varieties, where the Chinese variety......

ABSTRACT: Paddy field with swampland character has a well potency if it is well developed in order to increase the production of crops especially for paddy on swampland field. Based on the total of paddy fields in South Sumatera, swampland dominates 34.3 percents of them (BPS, 2013.). If the land is well utilized and is followed by the control of smart technology then the productivity of crops particularly rice plants could grow faster. Integration of farming business could become a right technology to raise the efficiency and to increase the productivity of existed farming business. Other than that, the application of this integration can provide opportunities toward food security and farmers income. There are three main components inside the system of crops and livestock integration......

ABSTRACT:Balami's sheep is the most popular sheep breed in Niger. It is highly appreciated for its beefing performance, which is why the breed is highly coveted by neighboring countries, particularly Mali and Senegal. However, having regard to all its prowess, the Balami has been the subject of few studies and its performances are very little known. This work aims to study the qualitative phenotypic characteristics of Balami. To this end, 311 Balamis sheep (75.9% females: 24.1% males) distributed over 99 holdings and 10 sites were characterized. The following parameters were discussed: general color of the dress, type of Balami, ear structure, presence / absence (horns, goatee, tassels, mane, camail, glasses), shape and orientation of the horns, profile (head, back, rump), color (coat, eyes, glasses, ocular mucosa,......

ABSTRACT:Ethnobotanical studies record plant resources of a given community as well as ways of use and manage these resources by the same communities. Despite their importance, there are few published ethnobotanical studies about Angolan rural communities and their plant resources, thus there is the need to undertake such studies. The aim of the present study was to undertake an ethnobotanical survey of the cassava cultivate in the rural communities of Ebo, Cuanza Sul province. A sample size of 50 smallholder farmers was selected to answered to a questionnaire about the cassava species they cultivate, their farming practices and the end-use of the edible plant parts in addition to socioeconomic aspects. Farmers were visited in their houses and semi-structured interviews were used to collect information. The results indicated that cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) is one of the most cultivated plant species, whereby......

ABSTRACT:The joint analysis of qualitative and quantitative variables has been pointed as a useful tool in the estimate of the genetic diversity among the varieties of a germoplasm collection. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the genetic diversity of cassava varieties in the conditions agroecologics of Malanje, based on morpho- agronomics characters, for identification of divergent groups and to direct of hybridization works and subsequent selection. Traits such as number of branches, plant height, stem diameter, distance between internodes, height of the first branch, number of roots, root diameter, root length, shoot yield and root yield in experiments conducted in the Experimental Farm......

ABSTRACT:Termite pests are attracted to habitats that contain high organic matter and are thought to be related to habitat conditions that have high humidity with low temperatures. This research aims to study the effectiveness of each habitat for the survival of termites in cocoa plantations. This research was conducted in the Cocoa Plantation of Bandar BaruSubdistrict, Pidie Jaya Regency, from February to November 2019. The equipment used was Petridish, Olympus brand optical microscope (CX21FS1), Thermometer, Gauze, Tissue, Jars, Knives, Sterile Cotton, Aluminum foil and stationery. The materials used are termite pests, pine wood. The method used is the triple mark recapture technique (Marini & Ferrari 1998). The results of the observation show that the termites of Macrotermesgilvus damage cocoa plants in Bandar Baru District, Pidie Jaya Regency. Cocoa plants that are not treated well experience a higher level of damage than those that are well cared for. Growth and development of M. gilvus colonies increased in habitats that were not sanitized by weeds and organic matter waste......

ABSTRACT: This study was carried out to evaluate progesterone profile of cross bred sows in Zaria following treatments with double and triple injections of Dinoprosttromethamine(Lutalyse®). Ten (n = 10) apparently healthy cross bred sows were randomly assigned to 2 treatment groups based on number of injections of Lutalyse®. Group 1 (n=5) received two injections of Lutalyse® (12.5mg) (days 0 and 13) while Group 2 (n=5) received three injections of Lutalyse® (12.5mg) (Day 0, 7, 13). Oestrus was monitored twice daily from 0700 – 1000 and 1500 – 1800h. Data on progesterone profile obtained during the oestrous cycle were expressed as mean ± SEM. Student t-test was used to compare the mean values between the groups. Graphpad Prism® data package for windows (2009) was employed for all statistical.....

ABSTRACT: In a semi-arid Tunisian context where landscape degradation by soil erosion has increased considerably, a comparative economic study of farmers' income over a timeline situation: before and with soil and water conservation amenities installation is necessary. We aim to analyze the socio-economic impact of these amenities in Oued Sbaihia watershed at the north east of Tunisia. The results show that these developments have important roles from an environmental and economic point of view. Indeed, they reduced the erosion of agricultural land and improving its productivity through maintaining soil fertility and increasing water reserves by correcting ravines and building manual benches and hill lake. Also, the integration of olive tree cultivation, has improved both the sustainability of land and the profitability of farmers. In addition, the expansion of fodder crops, especially the cultivation of Sulla, has improved......

ABSTRACT: With regard to recent progress of international trade agricultural sector in Tunisia, reacted through numerous cooperation agreements with international market. The purpose of this research is to study the export potential of some agricultural products in Cap Bon region. The methodology consists in defining the different production systems and identifying the factors that influence the export of agricultural products meant for the surveyed farmers. We identified the different production systems. We found out that production system of small farmers are fragile, which would explain the export constraints. Then, we established a sampling of three most prevalent products in order to corroborate their conformity to quality and marketing standards. The results showed dissimilarity between the different categories of farmers: rich farmers have better quality products. Finally, we aimed to perceive the tendency of farmers.....
