Abstract: Background: Diabetes is a group of chronic diseases, which is associated with long term complications with reduced quality of life and life expectancy. If the patients are aware about their illness, the risk of complications can be prevented. There is a felt need to identify the deficiency of knowledge about diabetes among the diabetic patients. Hence we have selected this study to evaluate the awareness about diabetes among the diabetic patients. Materials and methods: A cross sectional study was introduced randomly to the diabetic patients attending the tertiary care hospitals in Coimbatore.
