Abstract: Rapid urbanization throughout the world leads to pressure on infrastructure development for planners. The provision of clean water, treatment and disposal of wastewater has become a challenge to water resources and environmental engineers. It is perceived that new approaches will reduce the water stress and can contribute markedly to improve the availability of water. This research work relates to water management aspects of Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA), Tamil Nadu state in its entirety to suggest effective measures for improvement. Chennai Metropolitan Area spread over 1172 sq............

Abstract: Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is one of the earliest non-traditional machining processes.EDM process is based on thermoelectric energy between the work piece and an electrode. A pulse discharge occurs in a small gap between the work piece and the electrode and removes the unwanted material from the parent metal through melting and vaporizing. This study presents a methodology for evaluation, ranking and selection of parameters of Wire Electric Discharge Machine by using Taguchi's approach for EN-24 Alloy Steel.EN24 is a high quality............

Abstract: The estimation of mechanical properties and strength of concrete can be carried out by several methods; destructive and non destructive. In this study crushing strength of concrete cubes is the usual destructive test to determine the compressive strength of concrete. The rebound hammer test, ultrasonic pulse velocity and core test are the non destructive tests to determine compressive strength of concrete and to obtain correlation between them. In this work using M-20 grade of concrete twelve numbers of concrete cubes of size (150mmx150mmx150mm) were cast using...........

Abstract: Solid fuel biochar is a low-value byproduct of biomass gasification and pyrolysis with many potential applications, such as soil amendment, the synthesis of activated carbon and high value products. Considering its high-value applications, char could provide economic benefits to a biorefinery utilizing gasification or pyrolysis process. Outputs of pyrolysis process are liquid fuel, solid char and gas. In this paper pyrolysis process and mahua de-oiled seed cake is chosen as feedstock. The properties of char depend heavily on biomass feedstock, pyrolysis design and operating conditions............

Abstract: The combustion procedure in the internal combustion engine is varying cycle to cycle while varying load, speed, etc. It is difficult to accomplish better fuel economy and decrease pollution emissions. Literature shows that the design of a taper, straight and lower thermal inertia exhaust manifold takes good mass conservation, fuel economy and engine efficiency, Back pressure on engine having a powerful influence on engine efficiency and need to be decreased by using diffuser shape exhaust manifold. There is controlling parameter by which we can achieve good fuel economy and decrease exhaust gas pollution............

Abstract: The objective of this Paper is to find the performance parameters of the disc brake system using experimental and statistical approach. A standard energy (DOE) design of experiments by Taguchi method is applied to study three performance parameters each with three levels. The Hole diameter, No. of pattern and Distance between hole becomes the design variables. The disc brake model is to be developed in creo 2.0 and analysed using ANSYS. The number of parameters and levels are more so probable models are too much and which consumes more time. To overcome this proble............

Abstract: A study was carried out on Turag River with a view to observe and identify the present pollution sources of Turag river. Point and non-point sources of pollution of Turag River have been identified by several times of field visit during the the dry and wet periods of 2014 and 2015. From the field visits, it is clear that there are numerous illegal domestic sewage outfalls directly discharging waste into the river. In the Turag River many types of waste basically semisolid and liquid particles are being discharged every day. The water of the river is polluted mainly by industries, household waste through drainage, hospitals, shops, shopping malls, bazaar, storm water, mobiles or oils from many types of boats, launches etc............
