Abstract: By 2020, it is predicted that there will be 76 million cars produced worldwide annually. Automobile manufacturers are being forced by new legislation, such the Endpoint of Life Vehicle (ELV) rules, to think about the environmental effect of their manufacturing and maybe switch from the usage of synthetic components to agro-based products. Currently, only non-structural and semi-structural automobile components may employ agro-based materials due to poor mechanical qualities and some production restrictions. The mechanical characteristics of natural fibres can be enhanced above those of natural fibres alone by hybridization with glass fibre. This study focuses on a kenaf/glass fibre hybrid to improve. Abstract: Thermodynamics is not always done well or usefully brought to bear in civil engineering. This paper addresses historical aspects of misunderstandings of thermodynamic concepts; applies the Second Law of Thermodynamics to applications including shock waves in compressible fluid flow, the tidal bore, spillway flow, and junction flow. Additional applications of thermodynamics in civil engineering are discussed. These include deriving hydraulic transient wave celerities for waterhammer analyses; the First Law of Thermodynamics for a closed system and for a control volume; one-dimensional flow, energy loss due to friction; parallel incompressible flow; application of the control volume to a pressure conduit; the modified Bernoulli equation; tees with small inflow and outflow branches; isentropic flow of a perfect gas and its application to flow metering, determination of choked flow conditions, and determination of the shaft power required to drive a blower..

Abstract: The common methods of weft insertion in weaving machines are shuttle, rapier, air jet, water jet and projectile insertion. During weft insertion in the weaving process, a variety of demands are to be fulfilled. Besides transportation of the weft yarn, three of the most relevant demands are energy efficiency, productivity and flexibility. These demands are only partially met by the common methods of weft insertion. This paper describes the investigation of a novel method of weft insertion, which combines the advantages of common insertion methods whilst avoiding their deficits. The developed weft insertion is based on the principle of a magnetic force for the controlled transport of the weft yarn. The new method allows a potential energy saving of about 60% compared to a conventional air jet weaving machine. At the same time, industrially experienced weft insertion rates of about 2000 m/min are within reach.

When performed in a regular and proper workshop environment, welding is a safe activity. However, it must be noted that having equipment free from flaws and a neat, well-lit, and well-ventilated workspace are crucial components of a safe working environment. Abstract: Small boats operating at high speeds are suspected to high vertical accelerations causes large number of crew injuries and boat damages [1]. A concept of suspension boat consists of main hull and four sponsons connected to suspension links spring and shock absorbers patented by Prof. J L Grenestedt [2] in order to reduce the vertical acceleration.
The paper represents a 10DOF dynamic model of the suspension boat using Kane's method.

Abstract: The current energy sources used still largely rely on fossil fuels, which are depleting and could eventually run out at some point. Therefore, there is a need to develop renewable energy sources by harnessing natural potentials. Ethanol represents a biotechnological breakthrough that can serve as an environmentally-friendly alternative renewable energy source. Ethanol is developed using modern technology, making it a renewable energy source, meaning it's not finite like fossil fuels. The purpose of this research is to predict and optimize input variables to achieve the best possible output variables.In this research, there are several input variables that will have an impact: Heating Element Power (w), Pressure (p), Operating Time (t), while the Output Variable is the Volume of ethanol (m). Abstract: Deep cement mixing method is a solution for reinforcing soft ground and has been applied in many countries. In Vietnam, deep cement mixing method has also been experimented on and obtained positive results, especially in medium scale and below construction sites in the Mekong Delta where there is a thick layer of soft sediment soil. However, stiffened deep cement mixing column has barely been researched and experimented on. For this reason, the research on theory and design method for stiffened deep cement mixing column, especially using stiffened deep cement mixing column for reinforcing road foundation on soft ground is the main topic of this paper. The result from analysis using finite element method has shown that the factor of safety of soft ground reinforced by stiffened deep cement mixing column has increased from 0.499 to 1.68.
