Abstract: Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE), which includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is a serious cause of direct maternal morbidity and mortality in hospitals, that is highly preventable. Literatures strongly support patient education on VTE prevention as it can promote strategies such as early ambulation and encourages self assessment and self reporting of VTE signs and symptoms. Aim of this study was to assess the effect of educational nursing program on reducing the incidence of VTE among postpartum women at Assiut Women's Health Hospital, postpartum unit and followed up at post partum outpatient clinic.............

Abstract: Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and its derivatives are some of the most commonly used serum biomarker for the detection of prostate disorders in high risk populations. However, there are controversies regarding their clinical usefulness and benefits. In the current work, we aimed to evaluate serum level of sarcosine and these PSA derivatives in 150 prostate cancer (PCa) patients and 200 matched controls in our localities. Results showed serum sarcosine concentration of 64.94±0.81nmol/dl and 134.13±2.21nmol/dl, total PSA of 2.75±0.22ng/ml and 33.09±2.78 22ng/ml , f PSA of 0.72±0.03 22ng/ml...........

Title | : | Assessment of Nurse Midwive's Knowledge Concerning Effect of Early Timing of Umbilical Cord Clamping on Maternal and Neonatal outcomes at Delivery Rooms in Maternity Hospitals in Baghdad City |
Country | : | Iraq |
Authors | : | Leena Sabah KameL, MSc.N || Pro. Dr. Rabea Mohsen Ali, PhD |
Abstract: Background: Delaying umbilical cord clamping allows blood flow between the placenta, the umbilical cord and the baby to continue. The blood which transfers to the baby between birth and cord clamping is called placental transfusion. Placental transfusion may improve circulating volume at birth, which may in turn improve outcome for preterm infants. Early clamping allows for immediate transfer of the infant to the neonatologist. Objectives: to assess the knowledge of nurse – midwives about early timing of umbilical cord clamping, to identify the effect of early timing of umbilical cord clamping on mother and neonate, to identify the relationship between knowledge and socio-demographic variables...............
