Abstract: Background: Oral health is essential to general health and quality of life. It is a state of being free from chronic mouth and facial pain, oral and throat cancer, oral sores, gum disease, tooth decay and loss etc. Risk factors include unhealthy diet and poor oral hygiene. Worldwide, 60–90% of school children have dental cavities. Oral health knowledge is considered to be an essential prerequisite for health-related practices in school children...........

Title | : | A Study on Association of Oxidative Stress in Diabetes Mellitus on High Sensitivity C - reactive protein |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Sindu. P. C || Dr. Ramakrishnan.V. R. |
Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is an oxidative stress condition. Hydrogen peroxide is produced during the advanced glycation reactions in diabetes mellitus. Ferrous Iron in presence of hydrogen peroxide results in the Fenton reaction producing hydroxyl radicals which are injurious to tissues. High sensitivity C - reactive protein (hsCRP) is an acute phase protein that is elevated in injury and inflammation............

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Sindu P.C. || Dr.Ramakrishnan.V.R. |
Abstract: In many areas of world, hypertensive disease in pregnancy is the single most common cause of maternal death. Pregnancy associated hypertension remains unsolved despite decades of intensive research and remains the most significant problem in obstetrics. Though pre-eclampsia has been recognized clinically, its etiology and pathophysiology remains enigmatic. Early detection of pre-eclampsia using pregnancy associated parameters is beneficial to reduce the number of morbidity and mortality.............

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. V. Sindhanai || S. S. Avanthiga || Dr. V. C.Suresh Chander |
Abstract: Background and objectives: Enterococci, once considered as normal commensal flora in oral cavity, intestines and genital tract of humans and animals have emerged as major opportunistic pathogens. Biofilm formation is an important virulence factor of Enterococci species. Bacteria within biofilm are more resistant than their free living counterpart.Hencethis study was conducted to detect the biofilm formation by Enterococci isolates from our hospital and to compare the antibiotic resistance pattern of biofilm forming and non- biofilm forming species.............

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr.M.Prakash || Dr.M.M.Murali Manoj || Dr.P.Manohar |
Abstract: Background: Ketofol is a combination of ketamine and propofol in a single syringe which can be prepared in any desired concentration. Several gynecological procedures like tubal sterilization, dilatation and curettage, cervical polypectomy, fractional curettage are of short duration and just require analgesia and moderate sedation. A study was conducted to compare two different proportions of ketofol, with reference to the duration and level of sedation, quality of analgesia, hemodynamic and respiratory profiles, and to compare all the above effects with the well-tried propofol-fentanyl combination...........

Abstract: Extragonadal germ cell tumors in the retroperitoneum are not common in adults. Dermoid cysts are congenital tumors consisting of derivatives from the ectoderm,endoderm and mesoderm germ cell layers.The imaging findings are distinctive.The present report is a case of a retroperitoneal dermoid cyst in a 22-year-old male patient which was excised in toto and histopathological examination examination confirmed the diagnosis of dermoid cyst.

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr Sujata Satoskar || Dr Tajindra Singh Saluja || Dr SapnaRaut Dessai || Dr Aarthi Shenoy |
Abstract: Platelets or thrombocytes play an indispensable role in haemostasis to limit excess blood loss due to vascular damage. Platelet dysfunction either qualitative or quantitative, therefore, leads to bleeding disorders. Thrombocytopenia, characterised by decrease in platelet count can occur in different haematological disorders. The distinctive feature of immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is autoantibody induced platelet destruction leading to low platelet count...........

Title | : | An Alternative Approach for Fabrication of a Hollow Maxillary Complete Denture: A Case Report |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. K. Harshakumar || Dr. Anish Mohan || Dr. R. Ravichandran || Dr. S. Lylajam |
Abstract: The fabrication of a successful maxillary complete denture in severely atrophic maxillary ridges with large inter ridge distance is always a clinical challenge. In such clinical conditions weight of the maxillary complete denture often becomes a dislodging factor , thereby increasing the need for fabrication of a light weight maxillary denture for better retention. This clinical report describes an alternative approach for fabrication of a hollow maxillary complete denture in a patient with resorbed maxillary and mandibular ridges with increased inter ridge distance.
