Title | : | Pater Noster (Matthew 6:9-13) As a Paradigm for Ecumenical Commitment among Christians in Nigeria |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Obiorah Mary Jerome |
Abstract:Overt self-alienation characterises wilful disunity existing among Christians, particularly in Nigeria. Evidence of this is obvious in the number of Christian sects springing up daily. Each has its own interpretation of the message of Christ's Good News, thereby generating diversified and conflicting views on Christian belief. This paper argues that the Pater Noster (The Lord's Prayer), a common Christian prayer, is a paradigm for ecumenical commitment. It studies the Matthean version of this prayer in conjunction with its other traditions in the New Testament and the Didache. In the Pater Noster we find the reason for ecumenical endeavour for which Jesus prayed and which should be a concern of all Christians.

Title | : | What is the Psychoanalysis of Law? |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Shiva Kumar Srinivasan |
Abstract: This paper is an attempt to explicate the theoretical relationship between psychoanalysis and the law for those who are approaching this topic for the first time. It explains the need for such a discourse by situating it within the tradition of interdisciplinary approaches to the law in Anglo-American academia. The part played by discursive predecessors (such as the 'law and psychiatry' movement and the 'psychoanalysis of crime') anddiscursive contemporaries (such as 'law and economics' and 'law and literature') are also discussed. The success of these applications of psychoanalysis is then invoked to make a case for the law and psychoanalysismovement in law schools. One of the goals of this theoretical movement, needless to say, is to formalize the notion of the legal subject by applying the theories of subjectivity that are available in the work of European psychoanalysts like Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. The paper concludes by calling attention to not only the generic forms in which this is already being done by a number of scholars in law schools and in the legal literature, but also deploys the concepts of Freudian metapsychology that are relevant to doing so.

Title | : | Theoretical Underpinnings of European Union |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Maneesha Tripathi |
Abstract: The aftermath of Second World War offered a prospect of utter misery and desolation. Europeans felt hopeless and exhausted. The objective of peace went hand in hand with desire to ensure that Europe was able to get back on its feet economically after 1945. The proponents of European integration advanced theories for integration that involved gradual surrendering of sovereignty to a supranational entity. The ECSC was the first step towards European Union. The post 1945, regionalism emerged out of gradual process of integration from a six member organization to today 27 members European Union; from an inter-governmental organization to a supranational entity.The paper looks at the theoretical framework of European integration.

Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Laishram Jenibala Devi || Dr. W. Pradip Kumar Singh |
Abstract: Tobacco use is a global pandemic and is the leading cause of preventable death. Most of the deaths are occurring in the low and middle income countries. Objectives: To determine the prevalence and pattern of tobacco use among adults in an urban community. Materials and methods: A cross sectional study was conducted using face to face interviews on 403 individuals aged 18 years and above residing in an urban community of Imphal West, Manipur. Descriptive statistics and Chi –square test was used for analysis. Results: The prevalence of ever use of tobacco use was 66.3% and of which 95.5% were current users. Tobacco was used predominantly in smokeless form (zarda pan, khaini, gutkha) by 85% of the users. Smoked tobacco was used only by 15% of the users. The commonest influencing factor for tobacco use was peer pressure. Conclusion: Prevalence of tobacco use in this community was high. There is a need to develop effective health education and multifactorial tobacco quitting strategies with focus on help and support for those who wish to quit tobacco. Keywords: Cross sectional study, prevalence, pattern, tobacco use, urban community, Manipur

Title | : | A Comparative Study of Cost Effectiveness of Ibuprofen Suspensions with Other Similar Medicine in Pharmaceutical Market of Karachi |
Country | : | Pakistan |
Authors | : | Muhammad Waseem || Nabeel Afzaal || Fatima Iqbal || Muhammad Najamuddin |
Abstract: The use of medicines in our society follows no rules and ethics however there are detail regulations available for this. Both patients and general physicians are responsible for this trend. Patients from middle to lower class are affected by high cost of medicine this is the reason they tend to buy medicine of cheap price and sometime agree to compromise with quality of medicines. On the other hand general physicians are influenced by the unethical pressure of pharmaceutical companies. In this study similar problem is addressed and detailed investigation has been performed. This study revealed the trends in the prescription of medicine addressing pain and fever mostly relevant to children by general physicians. This is a survey based research and analysis which showed that general physicians are influenced by the brand and the manufacturer's name.

Title | : | The African Philosophical Conflicts and Development |
Country | : | Kenya |
Authors | : | Dr. Juma Fredrick Okoiti |
Abstract: The differences in African philosophical thinking between the ethno-philosophical and professional school of thought shows the involvement of philosophical conflicts in the African development process. The philosophical debate does no more than revive the entrenched views of development theories, namely the conflict between tradition and modernity. While ethno-philosophy thinks that the rehabilitation of African traditions, drive to successful modernization, especially after the disparaging discourse of colonialism, professional philosophy is of the opinion that success depends on the exchange of the traditional culture for modern ideas and institutions. This paper evaluates the major arguments developed by the two conflicting schools of thought in support of their position. The outcome is that both are right on their affirmations. Accordingly, the paper suggests that the conception of development as validation is alone able to reconcile the positive contribution of each school, since validation is how a traditional personality is judged according to modern norms, and thus achieves worldly success.

Title | : | Autistic Learning & Behavioural Difficulties Inventory: Validation of the Screening Instrument |
Country | : | Malaysia |
Authors | : | Noel Kok Hwee Chia || Norman Kiak Nam Kee || Mohamad Shaifudin Bin MD Yusof || Boon Hock Lim |
Abstract: The triad of impairments in communication, social interaction, and imagination is often used in autism screening tools. In this paper, the authors have proposed an alternative by examining autistic learning and behavioural challenges in cognitive, conative, affective and sensory processes. The alternative pinpoints the specific needs and strengths for informing decisions on selecting appropriate autism treatment strategies to follow up. They trialled the use of the Autistic Learning and Behavioural Difficulties Inventory (ALBDI) on 53 participants and validated it on the Gilliam Autism Rating Scale-Second Edition (GARS-2). Findings of their study suggested that ALBDI is a useful measure where its total autistic learning and behavioural difficulties scores correlated significantly with the GARS-2 total standard scores of its subtests and its Autism Index with Pearson correlation coefficients r = .800 (p<.01) and r = .801 (p<.01) respectively. ALBDI is included in the Appendix.
