Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Francis, Diana-Abasi Ibanga |
Abstract: Stem cell research programme has been celebrated world over as the most promising medical research in the 21st century. However, the method of stem cell research involves the use and unavoidable destruction of human embryo. As a result of this, many theologians, scholars and analysts have condemned the research programme. Their argument is that the embryo use in stem cell research is human person; hence it is immoral. This paper therefore aims at analyzing and examining the issue in order to establish the veracity or otherwise of the moral argument articulated against stem cell research.

Authors | : | Dr. Naumana Kiran |
Abstract: It is general perception in Pakistan that only few individuals such as governor general, president and military chiefs played important role in the policy-formulation process. This article is an attempt to review the existing perception and brings to light the fact that the institution of federal cabinet always played its role, minor or greater, in respects especially in dealing with the issues, politics and provincial governments of East Pakistan. Besides dealing with the performance of the Cabinet with regard to defence of East Pakistan, language crisis and electorate issue, the role of the cabinet in dealing with the politics and political forces of East Pakistan has also been analyzed. Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Ayeni, Gabriel Olusegun (Ph.D) || Prof. Adebayo, Williams Oluwole |
Abstract: This study used Geographical Information Systems to evaluate the spatial pattern of intra-urban poverty of Ikere-Ekiti. About 100 poverty variables were subjected to Factorial Analysis statistics and the results of the first five factors: Income, Housing characteristics (14.65%); Commerce and Communication (8.98%); Educational facilities (5.72%); Roads and Drainages (4.99%) and Water facilities (4.08%) were mapped. It was discovered that there was a spatial variation in the intra-urban poverty of the town. Ugele and Arokun wards were found to be the poorest compared to other wards. Emphasis of any poverty reduction projects should be focused on measures that would increase the provision and accessibility of the poor to necessary social and physical infrastructure that could improve the life of the urban poor.
