Abstract: Negative attitudes toward sero-positive patients have been studied extensively and established among community members and also within healthcare settings. Health-care services have also been described as a source of stigma in studies. However, no published studies addressing this topic have been performed in Kenya's Vihiga county. In this study, affected patients were invited to engage in focus groups or individual interviews, which were audio recorded on mobile phones, transcribed, and analyzed using thematic analysis, in order for the study to investigate sero-positive patients' perceptions of stigma by community members and health care providers in Kenya's Vihiga county.
