Abstract: Barbula indica (Pottiaceae), a dioecious acrocarpous moss had never been found with sporophytes in Nigeria. The occurrence of fruiting B. indica from two populations in the Nigerian forest and derived savanna is reported for the first time. Aspects of the morphological characters of fruiting and non-fruiting plants were compared to ascertain if they are distinct species or not. The leaf and costa length were not significantly different in both types of plants. The ratios mean leaf length : mean leaf width, costa length : leaf length and apical cell size were higher in non-fruiting than in fruiting shoots. However basal and median cell lengths were higher in fruiting than non-fruiting samples. Mean shoot lengths in fruiting plants were 8.8 + 2.946 mm and 9.6 + 2.330 mm in non-fruiting samples. Non-fruiting shoots produced more axillary gemmae than fruiting ones. As all of these vegetative differences are within the morphological range of Barbula indica the fruiting and non-fruiting shoots are not distinct species..

Abstract: Self- prescribed drugs comprises a big problem in medicine since drug resistance, cumulative side-effects, drug interactions may harm more than the benefit needed from it. In this study we focused on the population of medical students in Baghdad Medical College and evaluate how much they are aware of what misuse can do.

Abstract: Oral cancer is an aggressive cancer with a high mortality rate. Surgery, chemotherapy, and chemoradiotherapy are the conventional methods that have been used to treat oral cancers but they all come with certain level of compromise. Currently, targeted drug delivery has emerged as a promising method of delivering drugs to targeted site with increased concentration drug to the targeted cancer cells, improved efficacy of treatment which leads to administration of drug in fewer doses and hence reduced side effects. For this purpose, various drug delivery systems have been investigated and formulated. These include liposomes, microspheres, nanoparticles , nanoshells, nanorods, nanocubes, carbon nanotube, nanotubes, nanodiamonds, nanomedicine heat therapy, nanotechnology latest oncolytic agent , quantum dots, curcumin ultrasound mediated delivery and magnetic nanoparticles. The aim of a targeted drug delivery system is to have a protected localize drug interaction with the diseased tissue. The objective of this study is to present a review of targeted drug delivery systems for treatment of oropharyngeal cancers.

Abstract: Objectives: The objective of the present study was to incorporateItraconazole (ITC)proniosomes in different gel bases in order to develop ITC proniosomal gel for tansdermalapplication and alsoto achieve high drug plasma levels with enhanced bioavailability. Methods: ITCproniosomes optimized formula was prepared by slurry method and the prepared vesicles were evaluated for their entrapment efficiency (EE%),in-vitroITC release, zeta potential and vesicle size. The prepared optimized formula was then incorporated in different gelling agents as xanthan gum, methyl cellulose (MC), hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) and Carbopol 934. The effect of type and concentration of the employed gel bases on homogeneity, spreadability, extrudability, pH, drug content, the permeation study and viscosity measurement, was studied in all prepared gels. Effect of storage was studied forthe best four formulae at three different temperature for six months. Also, the best formula (G3 containing 5% MC) was used to study the antifungal activity, in vivo therapeutic efficacyand also pharmacokinetic parametersin the ratswhich then compared with commercially available formulations (Sporanox®) capsule and solution..........
