Abstract: Background - Any femoral fracture of up to 15 cms from the articular surface situated on the distal end has been defined as Distal femoral fractures. The condylar fractures either the Supra condylar or intercondylar are difficult to treat fractures. They are known to be complex injuries and having the possibility of causing disabilities of long term.Antegrade option for intramedullary device is used commonly for proximal fracture femur and in type C fractures of distal femur. Retrograde nailing is the choice to go in cases of Distal Femur Fracture. Evidence regarding its success in patients is negligible for the state of PUNJAB. The study intends to build on the evidence part in with certain objectives..

Abstract: This was a prospective cross-sectional study and was distributed in the department of Nephrology of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital, Dhaka. All patients were included in the period from July 2008 to December 2009. Our aim was to compare serum level in CKD stage II-III and stage V.Eighty (80) CKD stage V patients were taken in group I against 40 cases of CKD stage II and III in group II. There was significant decrease in serum albumin level in the study population. Mean serum sodium level was 137.81 mmol/l in the group I and 142 mmol/l in the group II. It showed a normal sodium level in the CKD stage II-III patients but hyponatremia in the CKD stage V patients. Mean serum potassium level was normal in both the groups. Mean serum bicarbonate level was found to be 20.51 mmol/l in group I which was 23.9 mmol/l in group II patients. It revealed a significant....

Abstract: Pyometra is the accumulation of pus in the uterine cavity due to its defective natural drainage. It is extremely rare, but comparatively more common in elderly postmenopausal women occuring as a complication mainly due to underlying gynecological malignancy or cervical stenosis following radiotherapy despite other causes. It can chiefly present as post menopausal bleeding, vaginal discharge, lower abdominal pain, uterine enlargement and other non specific symptoms. We have discussed about this complication and its diverse presentation by way of five case reports, all of them having an underlying uterine/cervical malignancy. Ultrasound (USG) is the first line imaging technique adopted followed by MRI pelvis which helped in clenching the diagnosis. Treatment given was cervical dilation and USG guided pyometra drainage along with endometrial/endocervical curettage in all cases except one that was conservatively managed.

Abstract: Introduction: Nephropathy is one of the serious diabetic complications and hemodialysis the common modality employed generally aimed to correct the altered crystalloids as well as to remove accumulated nitrogenous waste products. But it rarely corrects the vascular lipid levels, hence increasing the thrust of dyslipidemia and dyslipidemia induced cardiovascular complications in these patients. A study was planned to assess the cardiovascular risk factors, Cardiac Risk Ratio, Atherogenic Index of plasma and Atherogenic Coefficient in these patients to evaluate the cardiovascular risk. Materials and Methods: Patients of type 2 diabetes suffering from diabetic nephropathy undergoing hemodialysis at Area Hospital, Zaheerabad in the age group of 30-60 years were randomly selected. A heparinised blood sample was collected after obtaining a written consent. Plasma lipid profile, Cardiac Risk Ratio, Atherogenic index of plasma and Atherogenic.....

Abstract: DM is rapidly escalating globally as well as in India affecting all age groups. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most prominent pathological microvascular complications in diabetes. Several studies reported an association between hypovitaminosisDand an increased risk of diabetic retinopathy in type 2 diabeticpatientsin various populations all over world. Studies considering an association between hypovitaminosis D withdiabetic retinopathy are not adequate particularly in eastern India. The present study was conducted in a tertiary care teaching hospital approved by the institutional Research and Ethics Committee, aimed to evaluate the relationship of Diabetic retinopathy and hypovitaminosis ThisStudyconducted on 107 type 2 diabetic patients of 40 yearsof age& above. Results were analyzed by using SPSS version16.Statistical analysis used Chi square test for qualitativevariables. Results showed that there was significant association of hypovitaminosis D with Diabetic retinopathy.

Abstract: Elderly primigravida remains a high risk pregnancy. It was found that most women were literate and belonged to middle class group. The study revealed that most women conceived and delivered within 2 years of marriage. In the present study, elderly primigravida are at high risk of several complications including hypertensive disorders, uterine fibroid & hypothyroidism. Choroid plexus cyst was the most common congenital anomaly noted. It also showed increased rate caesarean section and decreased instrumental delivery. The probable reason for increased caesarean section was the preoccupied mindset that the baby born at old age is precious and the belief that caesarean section is more safe than the normal vaginal delivery. Most obstetricians prefer to carry out caesarean section for an elderly primigravida rather than taking the risk of difficult vaginal delivery or instrumental delivery.NICU admission was less and out of 180 participants, only one perinatal death occurred. There were no.......

Abstract: Background: Testicular torsion is one of urological emergencies that develop in puberty and early adulthood. Management of testicular torsion is surgical detortion and bilateral orchidopexy through transscrotal access with orchidectomy, which is indicated only for unviable cases that cannot be reperfused after detortion or with necrosis. Ischemia/reperfusion as the main pathophysiologist of testicular torsion with inflammation. Systemic inflammation can make contralateral testicular damage. TNF-α is the main cytokine in the inflammatory response. Increased TNF-α can cause NFκB activation in cells and can affect apoptosis. Aim: This study aims to determine differences in serum.....

Abstract: Rajasthan has about 12% tribal population spread over Aravali hills, forests and plains. Majority of them live in Aravali hills with bare means of subsistence. In recent decades some tribals have descended in plains owing to economic compulsions. Zawar is a tribal township with over 60% tribal population. It consists of highly undulating ridges, hills with zinc mines. Area for agriculture is very small. The present study was aimed to assess nutrient status. Concomitantly, lipid profile, oxidant and antioxidant status were also examined.
