Abstract: BTP (Bumi Tamalanrea Permai) residential complex is one of the densest settlements in Makassar City and is in a strategic area. Residential buildings along the main road of BTP residential complex has now been converted into commercial buildings such as culinary or restaurants, shops, educational institutions in the form of kindergarten and tutoring school, even health services such as clinics and hospitals. The building owner is building in the setback area for commercial activities. This then causes the unavailability of parking lots for vehicles. Visitors who have a vehicle will use the sidewalk, roadside and even a portion of the traffic lane as a parking lot so that the pedestrian lane in the form of sidewalks becomes unsafe and uncomfortable.The study was conducted on the sidewalk on the main road of BTP residential complex, Tamalanrea District, Makassar City. Abstract: A series of three-dimensional models of Reinforced Concrete (RC) Beams, subjected to shear failure and then retrofitted with near-surface-mounted (NSM) composite reinforcement, were numerically analyzed to examine the effects of different modes of failures on the ultimate strength of strengthened reinforced concrete beams. These analyses intended to study strengthening configurations (i.e., angle of inclination of the NSM composite). Prior to the retrofit, the models were analyzed at three different failure modes; pre-cracked after three loading cycles, unloaded up to the first shear cracking; and pre-cracked up to 85% failure load and pre-failed in shear after one cycle of loading. Results indicate that the NSM composite reinforcement remarkably improved the shear response. Varying the angle of inclination of the NSM composites from 90 to 45 degrees increased the shear strength of the beams. LNG-powered refrigerated transport ships are a form of LNG-powered ships. Abstract: This research has evaluated the liquefaction potential from Sirajgonj to Kurigram around 140 kilometers along a riverside based on the standard penetration test (SPT) method by a simplified approach. Liquefaction potential analysis was performed by using LiquefyPro, version 5 (2005) software for the selected peak ground acceleration value (0.28) at particular earthquake magnitudes 5.5 and 7.5. Abstract: The search for alternative materials to river sand in concrete and masonry works has led to the use of laterite and/or quarry dust. Formulation of models for predicting the structural strength and cost including concrete proportioning using locally available material is a growing trend in the construction industry. Abstract: Building structures subjected to explosion may result in the loss of column. In such case the ability of the structure to resist collapse depends on the structural system especially the reinforcement detailing at the beam column joint of the damaged column. This study investigated the effect of different detailing schemes on the progressive collapse behaviour of reinforced concrete building. Three different detailing schemes were considered namely Model A, B and C. In Model A, the bottom reinforcements were continuous through the joint. In Model B, the bottom reinforcements were lapped within the joint at the same section while in Model C, the bottom reinforcement were lapped within the joint but in a staggered manner. The result showed that Model C had a higher load resistance capacity compared to Model B although their flexural behaviour were the same. Using the pseudo static curve, the dynamic load resisting capacity for Models A, B and C at failure were 127KN, 95KN and 116KN respectively. This shows that lapping reinforcement in a Staggering way as allowed by Eurocode 2 can help resist progressive collapse much better than lapping the reinforcement at the same section.
