Title | : | Mapping Environmental Health: Choice of Data Organisation and Colour Schemes |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Vineeta John |
Abstract: The term 'health' to denote wellness or well-being e.g. its use for 'economic health' with respect to communities in a spatial entity was first used by Thompson J. H. et al. in case of New York State. The other such usage are 'health of oceans', 'financial health', 'ecological health' or 'health of ecosystem'. The present paper, in an effort to add a more holistic scope to the term health, attempts to extend the term's sphere of connotation to include environment too and use it to denote the different states of environment's wellness. The paper aims to find a data organisation which is compatible with environment health data sets and select a classification routine which matches this organisation.

Title | : | Conflict and Assimilation (Case Study of Javanese Among Acehnese in Langsa 1955-2006) |
Country | : | Indonesia |
Authors | : | Imam Hadi Sutrisno || Mustain Mashud || Aminah |
Abstract: The arrival of Javanese ethnic in Aceh known as Javanese migrants, or earlier and specific designation is koeli kontrak or werk. The civil servants (amtenar) referred the term of koeli kontrak or werk to these people. They had to face many problems in the course of their lives. They even were employed day to night with the demands of life in order to get money. Independence day was here, but the journey to the Javanese migrants in Aceh in particular, has not felt the sense of independence in reality. The first factor is how they are able to live peacefully without any disturbances from armed groups (the separatist of Aceh). This research used the method of history of sociology approach, with a temporal scope 1955-2006, and will define the partial scope from eastern of Aceh region. The research results obtained in this study is the struggleness of Javanese migrants to stay alive in Aceh by way of assimilating the cultures, but in politic and power it is still short of expectation.

Title | : | Boosting Hotel Guest Information Search for Decision Making Through Internet |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Florence Lagasi |
Abstract:The hospitality industry offers products and services that are intangible. The consumers cannot see, inspectand touch them before making purchase decision. This makes marketing of the products to be distinct. While the supplier has to acquaint and equip himself with necessary resources to make sales, the buyer has to depend on the information provided by the supplier to make a purchase. Information search is very critical to the hotel patrons in making buying decision and repeat custom. One of the ways this large volume of information is made available is through the internet. Successful hotel companies have found the internet very reliable in disseminating information but its effectiveness depends on the quality and quantity of product information supplied. This paper examines the effectiveness of the customer information system in Sheraton Hotel Nigeria, especially on the internet and how it contributes to realization of corporate goals.

Title | : | Effect Of Age, Experience And Education On Cognitive And Psychomotor Performance Of Locomotive Drivers And The Role Of Compensatory Factors In Mitigating Their Effects On Indian Railways |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Vishnu Kumar |
Abstract: Train operation requires various technological inputs maintained and operated by human beings and it makes human reliability inevitable and safety critical. Attributes and acumen of human operators need to be of the highest order, to meet desired level of competence, remaining physically agile and mentally alert, to meet the requirement of responding quickly and taking decisions while driving. Essentiality of complying prescribed safety rules, swiftness in handling equipments and managing different aspects of driving with highest level of attention and alertness makes it inevitable to minimize safety critical risk factors and for attaining this level of precision they need to have requisite potential with respect to cognitive, psychomotor, personality and behavioural abilities, which deteriorates with age.

Title | : | Employers and the Enhancement of Industrial Harmony in Private Sector Organizations in Nigeria |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Izidor Nwokocha, Ph.D |
Abstract: The study examines the role of employers in enhancing industrial harmony in organizations with a focus on private sector organizations in Nigeria. The paper posits that conflict is inevitable in all organizations and, as such, the employer who has the responsibility of making major organizational policies to achieve corporate objectives must play a dominant role in ensuring industrial harmony. The paper exposes some of the factors that undermine industrial harmony and productivity in private sector organizations to include leadership behaviour, lack of effective communication, work environment, and non-recognition of trade union as a bargaining party. It further explicates that productivity and growth are not fully enhanced because of management practice of exclusionism, poor labour-management policies, and dehumanization of work environment. As panacea to mitigate conflict and promote a culture of harmony that will achieve organizational goal, the study proposes that management of private sector organizations in Nigeria should fashion out a framework of joint committee/expanded collective bargaining, create work culture that is based on collaboration and team work, initiate participatory management and develop and restructure an effective communication process. Instituting these measures will help to close conflictual loopholes that hinder industrial harmony and productivity in private sector organizations in Nigeria.

Title | : | Viewed From the Other Side Media Coverage and Personal Tales of Migration in Iraqi Kurdistan |
Country | : | Iraq |
Authors | : | Sareng Aziz Salih |
Abstract: This report analyses the discourse on Iraqi Kurdish migration. It explores the media coverage of migration in Kurdish mass media in Iraq as well as the beliefs among media professionals, their key sources and the perceptions among people with different types of personal migration experiences. Knowledge is very sparse regarding the arguments evoked and the frames used in migration debates in countries with large -scale emigration to the west. Addressing this lacuna, this Study sheds light on perspectives, arguments and experiences related to migration in a region dominated by waves of emigration to Norway and other European countries in the last decades. The study further gives voice to the untold stories –to the experiences and perspectives appearing in neither the Norwegian and Western media debate on immigration nor in the Iraqi Kurdish media.

Title | : | Issues, Challenges and Prospects of Water Supply in Urban India |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Ar. Manoj Panwar || Mr. Sunil Antil |
Abstract: Increasing population and climatic variation driven by climate change has led to water scarcity across world. As cited in United Nations Environmental programme 2002, by 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity about two-third of the world population, mainly in developing countries will face moderately to high water stress and half of the population will face problem due to water scarcity. Ongoing mismanagement of resources and wasteful behaviour in India has led to the overexploitation of water resources, particularly groundwater.

Abstract: In Nigeria, the fundamental problems associated with the stock exchange market are associated with changes in macroeconomic variables as a result of macroeconomic shocks. Accordingly, this thesis provides an empirical investigation of the causal relationship between stock market returns and macroeconomic variables in order to enhance the ability of economic agents in the analysis of stock market performance in Nigeria using Autoregressive Distributive Lag (ARDL) and Vector Autoregressive Model (VAR).

Title | : | Emplacing An Effective Urban Development And Management Mechanism In Ekiti State, Nigeria |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Olusegun Oriye || Remi Olorunleke || Julius Oluranti Owoeye |
Abstract: the need to emplace effective mechanism for urban planning and development in Nigeria is very dire. this is because of lack of appropriate legal and professional instruments and tools. like many states in Nigeria, ekiti state does not have updated maps and gis/rs powered cartographic data. those in use were produced in 1966 by the federal ministry of survey or adapted there from. equally, there are no structures or master plan as well as not having enough professionals with updated knowledge of modern tools and international best practices to power a cutting-edge 21st century system. meanwhile, urbanization is ongoing with increasing population such that more people are using the fragile infrastructure as urban areas keep sprawling. with the uncoordinated expansion, various forms of land-use distortion take place leading to slum developments. the study adopts the review of documentary reports of various administrations of physical planning in the state with a view to look at the planning instruments available and examine its adequacy to sustain development planning and control in the 21st century.
