Title | : | Trade Secrets Laws in China and India: A Comparative Analysis |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Faizanur Rahman |
Abstract: Trade Secrets law is a puzzle. Courts and scholars have struggled for over a century to figure out why we protect trade secrets. The puzzle is not in understanding what trade secret law covers; there seems to be widespread agreement on the basic contours of the law. Nor is the problem that people object to the effects of the law. Rather, the puzzle is a theoretical one: no one can seem to agree where trade secret law comes from or how to fit it into the broader framework of legal doctrine. Courts, lawyers, scholars, and treatise writers argue over whether trade secrets are a creature of contract, of tort, of property, or even of criminal law. None of these different justifications have proven entirely persuasive. Worse, they have contributed to inconsistent treatment of the basic elements of a trade secret cause of action, and uncertainty as to the relationship between trade secret laws and other causes of action.

Title | : | Use of new media in the government run PR machinery: an Indian perspective |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Tomojit Bhattacharjee |
Abstract: The Public Relations machineries of the government or the public sector establishments of all countries, irrespective of whether they are democracies or not, play a very important role in disseminating information about the various activities and welfare schemes of the government they represent. In case of democracies, their role is extremely crucial since their success or failure in spreading the good word about the activities of the government often decide whether the party in power emerges victorious in the elections or not. In case of the Government of India, the public relations and advertising activities are handled by primarily two agencies – the Press Information Bureau (PIB) – for media relations and the Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity (DAVP) for advertisements.

Title | : | Institutional Decay and Corrupt/Unethical Practices: Problems and Prospects for the Police Force in Nigeria |
Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Akubo Alewo Johnson |
Abstract: The importance of effective policing in every human society in general and Nigeria in particular can never be over-emphasized. This has become more so of the essence in recent times against the backdrop of the violent wave of security challenges rumbling across the globe. From brutality, extra-judicial killing; unlawful detention of suspects, demanding payments for bail, search and arrests without warrant, gun running, to complicity in crimes such as armed robbery, mounting of illegal roadblocks for the purpose of extortion of money from hapless citizens, harassment and intimidation of political opponents of ruling parties, and asking for bribe (popularly referred to as "egunje" in the Nigerian parlance), use of alcohol and other drugs, sexual misconduct racial profiling, the objectionable behaviour of the Nigerian police has made the establishment to be hated by majority of Nigerians.
