Abstract: This paper sought to assess the role of the school in transitioning young people into vocational training in selected secondary schools in Gwanda district. Many young people are completing secondary school education without skills needed to live independently or contribute meaningfully to society‟s daily demands. With the ever increasing job demands on technical skills young people need to be prepared for specialised technical jobs. The research sought to assess the role of the school system in preparing youths who can effectively compete in the labour market. The major challenge youths face is unemployment due to their unemployability.......
