Abstract: Boko Haram terrorism started effectively in 2009 in the north-east and since then has continued with many lives lost and properties destroyed. The Nigerian government responded to the phenomenon through its military. Apparently the military‟s operation against the terrorists has also inadvertently worsened the situation. In light of this, this research sought to examine the socio-economic effects of the military‟s operation in Maiduguri, one of the cities in the north-east mostly affected. The study considered the relative deprivation and routine activity theories but adopted the conflict theory as its main theoretical thrust. Primary data were collected through survey questionnaire, In-depth Interview and Focus Group Discussion. The questionnaire was administered on a cross-section of the sampled population, using stratified sampling technique, while Participants for both the........

Abstract: The transport industry has drastically changed during the past Three decades, with the advent of containerization and the subsequent development of multimodal transport. These changes, moreover, have been matter of concern due to the complex issues arising out in the legal and insurance field. Thus, in the legal field attempts have been made to set up a uniform regime of liability applicable to the carrier, in order to avoid the fragmentation resulting from different regimes concerned with each mode of transport. Besides, in the insurance field insurers have been coping with what an author described as the "multimodal modle of conflicting laws and regulations", where the insurers try to cover the risks of door-to-door movements by a combination of transports.
