Abstract: The present study estimates runoff trend of extreme events of different seasons (pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon) in Dikrong river catchment which is located in the foot-hills of Arunachal Himalaya. The river catchment is characterized by the monsoon dominated hydrologic regime. For the purpose daily statistics of rainfall and discharge were collected from the various sources of state Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar, and Government of Assam, Guwahati used for testing the validity of SCS-CN method in Dikrong river catchment of high humid areas of Arunachal Himalayas. It is found that this method is suitable for the correct assessment of daily runoff (RO). The fluctuation in predicted RO are found more than the observed RO with an over estimation during high rainfall intensity and under estimation in the period of low rainfall regime.

Abstract: The primary motive for composing any vocal work is to convey a message to the listeners. The language employed could be intoned, atonal or tonal. In a tonal language, tones are phonemics; words inflexion of a passage intrinsically can proffer tunes which require the composers' consideration for intelligibility. Annang –Ibibio language is one of such languages; unfortunately, some indigenous composers of the language do neglect the inflexion proffer and so the messages they pass on be amiss. Other tonal language composers/researchers have noticed a similar problem and proffered solution. In Annang- Ibibio perspective, this paper has made an in-depth survey of Annang-Ibibio speech-tones and their influence on through interviews and thus explicates modalities and important paradigms for composing intelligible vocal work in Annang- Ibibio language.

Abstract: Music has earned its reputation among the various disciplines of life as an indelible tool for socio-cultural transformation. Ideologies conveyed through the medium of music seem to carry a greater power of assimilation than spoken words. Societies have long imbibed such medium in transmitting fundamental values like love, patriotism, justice and equity. This paper holds the view that having an altruistic penchant for transmitting ideologies and societal values through music both by art musicians and other indigenous songwriters, is an indication that music has shifted from just being an item meant for entertainment into a valuable cognitive tool for societal development in Nigeria. Furtherance, the research corroborates previous findings using the descriptive.......

Abstract: Growth of informal settlements in the global south are a growing concern. Though informal settlement upgrading is viewed as the current best practice, the need for impactful upgrading interventions is becoming increasingly critical. Tenure security has been seen as one such intervention. However, whereas research has focused on various aspects, little attention has been given to the implications of secure tenure pathways and typologies, on informal settlements upgrading initiatives, a gap that this study sought to contribute to. Adopting a case study approach, field survey and use of both quantitative and qualitative data analysis, the study reveals that tenure security typologies are attributed to various benefits and impact on informal settlements and thus a critical element in upgrading. However, secure tenure frameworks are constrained by the complex socio-economic and existing institutional frameworks including actors which collectively limit its impact on upgrading including community well-being.

Abstract: Farming is a major contributor to the economic development of Kenya. It is the source of livelihood for over 80 percent of the total population. However, a number of factors influence performance in farming. These factors are human factors, biotic factors, climatic factors and soil factors. The major sources of agriculture knowledge and skills are: the secondary schools, tertiary institutions, agricultural extension services and farmer training programmes. A number of secondary school agriculture graduates (SSAGs) take farming as a business. Their success in farming could be influenced by a number of factors, including post- secondary school farmer training. The target population consisted of farmers who studied agriculture at secondary school level and sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations between 1989 and 2004. The sampling procedure adopted for the study was snowball.......
