Abstract: Composite material is an engineered material created by combining two or more materials to produce enhanced mechanical properties compared to its constituent materials. This study focuses on natural fiber composites using coconut fiber as reinforcement with a polyester matrix. Post-curing treatment is applied to improve the mechanical strength of the composite. Abstract: This paper explores the viability of sustainable materials as alternatives to traditional metals like aluminium in aircraft manufacturing. Aluminium, widely used due to its lightweight and corrosion-resistant properties, poses significant environmental and structural challenges, including greenhouse gas emissions and susceptibility to thermal expansion. Composite materials, such as bio-based composites and natural-fiber reinforced composites, offer promising solutions by reducing weight, fuel consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions, while also being more cost-effective. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner serves as a case study, demonstrating how composite materials can enhance flight efficiency and sustainability. Although composites present challenges such as damage detection, thermal sensitivity, and manufacturing complexity, ongoing innovations are addressing these limitations. Abstract: The use of natural fibers to enhance the thermal properties of earth bricks has become increasingly popular. This study investigates the thermal performance of termite mold soil (TMS) reinforced with two types of fibers: coconut fibers (CF) and empty fruit bunch spikelet fibers (EFBSF). Various fiber compositions (0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5%) were combined with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) treatments at concentrations of 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4%. Laboratory results reveal that TMS exhibits promising physical properties, including a moisture content of 23.64%, a maximum dry density of 1.63 g/cm³, and a plasticity index of 20%, indicating its structural stability and suitability for earth block production.
