Title | : | Factors Influencing Effective Implementation of Evidence Based Practice among Nurses in Assiut City Hospitals, Egypt: A Comparative Study |
Country | : | Egypt |
Authors | : | Soad Baiomy || Ekram M Abdel Khalek |
Abstract: Nurses have relied on expert and opinions in clinical decision-making. However, these ways of practicing may be unsafe. Experienced-based knowledge may be associated with biased thinking that lead to errors. Scientific research is the standard by which sciences derive knowledge. This study aims to explore factors influencing the effective implementation of evidence-based practice among nurses working in outpatients clinics in hospitals of Assiut city. A cross-sectional comparative study was carried out on 807 nurses. Data were collected by interview questionnaires from January to June 2014. The present study included 414 nurses working in Assiut University Hospitals and 393 nurses from hospitals of Ministry of Health. Nearly 40% of the both studied groups never looked for information, research or evidence to support their nursing practice.

Abstract: Calcium is an important component of a healthy diet. It is essential for all living organisms as it signals the various cellular processes. It also helps in mineralization of bone, teeth and its maintenance throughout life. . Pregnancy causes a tremendous shift in maternal calcium metabolism as calcium becomes important for the fetal bone mineralization. This study establishes the effects of calcium on the fetal birth weight. Method: This cross sectional study was conducted among 100 antenatal subjects. Ethical clearance and the necessary permission from Obstetrics department of Sri Ramachandra University were obtained. Written informed consent obtained from the subjects. Biochemical analysis of calcium was done at the SRMC central laboratory.

Abstract: Knee is among the most commonly affected joints in rheumatoid arthritis, which is the most common form of inflammatory arthritis, affecting 1% of men and 3% of women.Total Knee Arthroplasty in the rheumatoid patient presents unique challenges, such as the systemic nature, poor bone quality as a result of prolonged steroid use soft-tissue deformities, valgus fixed deformities and flexion contractures and the disease process itself. The purpose of our study is to look out for clinical outcomes in midterm and long term follow up of rheumatoid patients operated for total knee replacement.This is a retrospective study of 100 consecutive primary TKR in 61 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. A total of 61 patients, (49 females, 12 males) with a mean age of 58.4 years underwent the surgery.

Title | : | Phonetic Inventory in Malayalam-English Bilingual Children |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Sofia V Sunny Maslp || Satish Kumaraswamy |
Abstract: The present study was focused on phonetic inventory in Malayalam English bilingual children with the age range of 3-5 years. The Malayalam diagnostic articulation test was administered to 40 typically developing children. Subjects were divided into two groups with an inter age interval of 12 months (3-4 years, 4-5 years) in urban and rural areas.The results revealed that there was a significant difference (p<0.05) across the age groups and across regions for some phonetics. The performance varied across age groups. As age increased, the scores also increased indicating the inventory of phonetics with the age and regions due to neuromuscular maturation and stimulation (bilingual).

Abstract: Background: the pollution of wood charcoal smoke may causes many health disorders, among these lipid peroxidation and disturbance of antioxidant levels, in addition to the poisoning with some toxic elements, which in turn affect the level of vital elements in the human body. In this work, the exposure effect of wood smoke on 100 Iraqi workers was studied. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of charcoal smoke on lipid peroxidation marker malondialdehyde (MDA) , vitamins (A, C, E), albumin, hemoglobin and (Hg, Pb, Mg, Zn, Se) levels in sera of the workers.
