Abstract: In humans, low CD4 count, chronic kidney failure and HIV infection are common incidence in Nigeria; however, selenium deficiency is not commonly prevalent across the country due to its variations in soil contents in the different geographical areas. A cross-sectional assessment of serum selenium level, CD4 count and eGFR status of HIV positive treatment naïve and HIV infected people on ART were done. Individuals on ART and treatment naïve were recruited. Subjects with diabetes mellitus, hypertension and age less than 18 and older than 60 years were excluded. Serum creatinine levels were determined to calculate the eGFR using Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration equation (CKD-EPI). Height and weight were measured to calculate the BMI and serum selenium and CD4 counts determined. There was significant negative correlation between eGFR status and......

Abstract: Ascites is a common complication in patients with liver cirrhosis that can lead to poor prognosis. Beside medical intervention, diet program has a pivotal role in ascites treatment. This study aimed to explore the experience of liver cirrhosis patients with ascites, precisely when they attempted to follow diet program. In depth interview was conducted in this qualitative study which involved seven outpatients with ascites. This approach resulted in three themes through data analysis: (1) the presence of motivation affecting adherence; (2) the family involvement; (3) dietary behavioral change. This can be concluded that motivation and family member support are considered as contributing factor of dietary adherence. Also, further study is recommended to explore sodium restriction adherence in behavioral change.

Abstract: Many women wear high heeled shoes (HHS) on a daily basis to increase the femininity. Wearing HHS increases the height of the center of gravity and takes the line of gravity away from the center of the base of support. This may result in the loss of body balance. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of different shoe heel heights on dynamic balance in different age groups of females. Methods:Repeated measure design was conducted. Sixty female subjects aged from 16 to 45 years were assigned according to their ages into three equal groups: Group (A) consisted of 20 female subjects; their ages ranged from 16 to 20 years with..........
