Abstract: Since its inception in the mid-1970s and early 1980s, the Jua Kali (informal sector) has been popular to the consumers because of its affordable articles and proximity to residential areas. This paper looks at the amalgamation of design and production to offer solutions to problems artisans face in trying to meet consumer satisfaction. Materials, comfort, cost of articles, labour issues and skills, proprietors and apprentices terms of employment and how they can be interpreted to synthesis a brief to the satisfaction of the client were considered. It applied a case study model while applying a survey method for data collection. The sample size was 300 workshops in Gikomba market, Nairobi City of which 188 workshops were engaged in wood production while the rest of 112 workshops were engaged in metal production............

Abstract: This paper emphasizes on the present situation of women in agriculture and suggests possible roadmaps to mainstream women in development process. Women's contribution in any economy is inevitable. Their roles vary region to region, work to work, state to state, and country to country. Women are agricultural labour forces and marginalized workers. They participate in many aspects of rural life – in paid employment, trade and marketing, as well as many unpaid activities, such as tending animals, collecting water and wood for fuel, and caring for family members. Abstract: In the last twenty five years of economic liberalization foreign direct investment has assumed immense importance in policy frameworks and academic discourses around the world. The total inflow of FDI to India in the last 25 years stands at Rs.21, 35,313.47 crs.Within India; Karnataka is one of the leading destinations for FDI inflows. Karnataka being a reform oriented state has taken several policy initiatives right from 1991 to attract FDI. This has resulted in the rapid growth of FDI to Karnataka. In 2015 the cumulativeFDI inflows to Karnataka stood at Rs. 1, 73,839.17crs thereby making Karnataka as the third largest state attracting FDI in the country. In this context the present paper aims at making a critical analysis of FDI inflows to Karnataka from 1991 to 2015 which will help in the formulation of appropriate policy measures to attract more FDI to the state.

Abstract: Proverbs are used nowadays as an effective spoken or written tool of expressing various meanings and intentions. This paper aims to demonstrate the value of proverbs at various levels of communications through a representation of their basic features and their various intended meanings which they convey. It is mainly concerned with showing the communicative significance of proverbs (what they intend to convey) through relating them to the different speech acts they contain and through elaborating the multiple inherited meanings which they exhibit when used in any communicative situation.............
