Abstract: Background: The value of equal participation in politics is the prerequisite of gender equality as well as national development. However, women in Bangladesh generally remain insignificant in the entire political domain. Therefore, the main aim of this study was to assess the gender gap in political participation by examining the role of structural, situational, and cultural factors in the highly gender-oriented context of Bangladesh. Materials and Methods: A total of 597 participants (295 men and 302 women) were selected by proportionate stratified random sampling from Khulna District.
