Title | : | Marriage among Hindus with Special reference to Dowry |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Rajni Devi |
Abstract: The institution of Hindu marriage occupies a prominent place in the social institutions of the present world. Hindu marriage can be defined as a religious sacrament in which a man and woman are bound in permanent relationship for physical, social and spiritual purposes of dharma, procreation and sexual pleasure. Thus, Hindu marriage is not merely a social contract but a religious sacrament. An important custom involved among the marriages is dowry. Any property or valuable security given or agreed to be given either directly or indirectly by one party to the marriage to the other party to the marriage by the parents of either party to the marriage or by any other person, at or before any time after the marriage is dowry. The present article discusses the marriage among Hindus with special reference to dowry.

Title | : | Subverting the Stereotypes: A Reading of Jaishree Misra's Ancient Promises |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | C.V. Abraham |
Abstract: The Indian goddess Sita is regarded by many as the epitome of womanly virtues, thanks to the dominant male discourses that have popularized the Sita myth and constructed female subjectivity in order to pin down woman to the 'pathivrata' image of the so-called ideal woman. In this paper I argue that Jaishree Misra's novel Ancient Promises is a classic example of a feminist operation subverting the Sita myth. Here I analyze the fictional narrative of Misra, first by problematizing the gender-specific issues evident in this text, and then by examining how these issues have a bearing upon the concepts of love and sex in the space of conjugality vis-à-vis Indian women.

Abstract: In today's intensely competitive world, business corporates have finally learnt the mantra of enhancing long-term productivity is through fulfillment of employees' expectations from work. The conception of Quality of Work Life (QWL) posits the management to treat individuals as assets, capable of adding immense value to the organization, when bestowed with honor and security. This article attempts to pinpoint the various dimensions to define QWL of bankers and their relativity in the standards of perception based on nature of banks, gender, designation and experience gained from work.

Title | : | Guardianship and Custody Laws in India- Suggested Reforms from Global Angle |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Sonali Abhang |
Abstract: The "Best Interest of the Child / Welfare of the Child" is the paramount consideration in adjudicating custody and guardianship matters. The worst affected in proceedings relating to divorce and family breakdowns are the children. Maintaining the central importance of the welfare of the child in proceedings of custody will help ensure that the child‟s future is safe and protected, regardless of changing familial circumstances. The Bombay High Court in Carla Gannon v. Shabaz Farukh Allarakhia, Criminal Writ Petition No. 509 of 2009 held that for determining the final decree, the child‟s welfare was the supreme consideration, irrespective of the rights and wrongs that the parents contend.

Title | : | The Political perception of youth: Where are we heading to? |
Country | : | Bangladesh |
Authors | : | Meheri Tamanna |
Abstract: Youth in politics can be a creative force, a dynamic source of innovation which in turn brings positive changes in political systems. But today's youth is neither deeply apathetic nor unconventionally engaged in mainstream politics due to its complex nature. This decreasing level of youth participation in politics not only endangers the quality of leadership but also jeopardizes the democracy of tomorrow. By using qualitative and quantitative data this study explored the trend of youth engagement and their disconnection with the current political systems.
