Title | : | EFL Reading Speed and Reading Comprehension |
Country | : | |
Authors | : | Tran Thi Ngoc Yen |
Abstract: A strong relationship between reading rate and comprehension in L1 and L2/FL reading has been reported in a few previous studies. However, other researchers argued that learners suffer lower levels of reading comprehension when being trained to read faster. This study examines the relationship between EFL reading speed and reading comprehension within and outside a speed reading course. The examination suggests that reading speed improvement does not necessarily negatively affect comprehension, and that EFL learners can be trained to increase their reading speed and reading comprehension at the same time...............

Title | : | Black Feminism in the Family Circle: A Reading of Toni Morrison's Sula |
Country | : | |
Authors | : | Koffi Yssa Désiré |
Abstract: Black feminism plays an important role in the formation and stability of black families in the United States. This movement allows black women to free themselves from the authority of men in fighting effectively against domination, exploitation and sexism. In doing so, these women want to assert their equality with men, make their rights recognized and show that they are as competent and intelligent as men. Their determination allows to establish and direct families where prevail joy, harmony, understanding and brotherhood. Thus, they give education necessary for the social integration of their children..

Title | : | The relationship between vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension among Moroccan EFL learners |
Country | : | Morocco |
Authors | : | Nadia Nouri || Badia Zerhouni |
Abstract: The present study aims to examine the relationship between two dimensions of vocabulary knowledge, namely size and depth, and whether these two dimensions of vocabulary correlate with reading comprehension performance. It also empirically evaluates the tests used to measure these three constructs in the Moroccan EFL context. To this end, 32 freshmen specializing in telecommunication engineering at the National institute of Posts and Telecommunication in Rabat-Morocco and taking English classes were involved in the study. The instruments used include a) vocabulary size test, b) vocabulary depth test c) and reading comprehension test. The findings reveal a moderate correlation between size and depth of vocabulary knowledge, a significantly strong correlation (p˂.01) between depth and reading comprehension performance, but only a low correlation between vocabulary size and reading comprehension performance..............

Title | : | Visions and Deaths: Trying to Reveal the Mystery behind the Extremely Unnatural Deaths |
Country | : | Bangladesh |
Authors | : | Md. Ziaul Haque |
Abstract: This paper endeavours to shed light on the visions and the unnatural deaths of the humans that frequently occur on the surface of the earth. Unquestionably, a number of people are intelligent enough and have the ability to connect visions with the terrible accidents where people breathe their last. Therefore, I would rationally tend to concentrate on such abnormal casualties and establish a correlation between the visions and the unnatural deaths.............
