Authors | : | Obodoegbulam Agi Otto (Ph.D) || Grace Lawrence-Hart (Ph.D) |
Abstract: The Niger Delta is a man's world. Patriarchy characterizes their perception of the universe. Wives queue behind their husband, daughters behind their father and sisters behind their brothers. In the Niger Delta like some other parts of the world, women suffer various form of discrimination, this includes; widowhood practice, inheritance rights, the land tenure system and female genital mutilation. This study focuses on male chauvinism and socio-religious equilibrium in the Niger Delta. It discusses male chauvinism as a cultural construct in the Niger Delta. It also considers the ripple effect of this custom on the female folk.. Finally, it considers the impact of the practice on the value orientation of the people in the 21st century. To facilitate our discussion, the comparative phenomenological approach is adopted. The paper concludes that male chauvinism has denied the female folk their right to self expression and identity.

Title | : | Health and Quality of Life Concerns in Adolescent Girls |
Country | : | |
Authors | : | Dr.S.Haseena |
Abstract: Children from a young age start to formulate ideas, beliefs and attitudes about their health and well-being. Understanding their perception of health and health issues is of vital importance to understand how children and adolescents engage with their health and can result in both short term and long-term population health gains. Children and adolescents need health services that are responsive and sophisticated to their needs and easy to access (Russell and Barker, 2005). The World Health Organization has stated that 'the health of young people is significant for the well-being of this age group and also for future public health' (WHO, 1993).............

Title | : | The 'Rasa' Theory and the Concept of the 'Sublime': A Universal Approach of Bharatamuni and Longinus |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Namita Bhatia |
Abstract: Literary works are read by the western, the eastern, the modern as well as the ancient readers. If there is any difference, it is of time, place, language, mythology, images and cultural background of a country. These differences may pose some difficulties but do not stand in the way of appreciating a literary work. In the same way, the principles of criticism whether of the East or the West are not restricted in their scope. There is a kind of universal element in them which makes them applicable to all literature. Hence, this paper is an attempt to revisit the critical theories of Rasa and of Sublime and observe the close affinity in the views of Bharata, an Indian sage- poet and Longinus, a Greek critic. Both the writers formulate rules of critical evaluation not for any specific branch of literature produced at a particular period, but they enunciate principles that are applicable to all forms of literature produced in every part of the globe.

Authors | : | Ainyakou Taiba Germaine || Krepka Dorcas Junior Zriga |
Abstract: - The study on the question of social protections among the Ebriés of Kouté was made to analyze the reconfiguration of the practices of protection among the Ebrié and their mechanisms of social protection in a context of modernity. In fact, to account for this social reality, this study mobilized a qualitative and ethnographic approach to 30 people (Ghiglione and Mathalon, 1998), during the month of March 2010. It arises a duality of social protection practices among the Ebrié of Yopougon Kouté. This duality is updated by traditional protection practices and the new configurations of social protection. Thus, the study unveils a duality of social practices of protection in Yopougon Kouté through the traditional and modern forms of protection.
