Abstract: The aim of this paper is to identify the effect of night light on delirium occurrence in post-operative cardiac patients. Design: A randomized prospective observational study.Method. 60 patients (25 in the experimental group, 35 in routine group) who underwent cardiac surgery from 1/ May 2016 to 30 / December 2016 and met inclusion criteria were enrolled. The patients were sorted randomly to sleep with or without eye masks during the first three nights. The Chinese version of Richards-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire (ROCK) was used to evaluate the subjective sleep quality. The NEECHAM Confusion Scale was used to assess delirium each morning for each patient. Result: Total Mean ± SD of the overall score of ROCK items in the three nights was 49.05 ± 5.65 in routine group versus 58.73 ± 5.06 in the experimental group (P value <0.001). Total Mean ± SD of the overall score of the NEECHAM.............

Incentive spirometry known to prevent postoperative pulmonary complications ,enhancing patients recovery ,keep lungs healthy and improve quality of life after abdominal surgery. Breathing pattern can be changed causing serious postoperative pulmonary complications following abdominal surgery. Incentive spirometry improving impaired breathing pattern following abdominal surgery. Aim: To assess the effect of using incentive spirometry on postoperative breathing pattern among abdominal surgical patients. Setting: The study was carried out at inpatient surgical departments in the following hospitals(King Faisal Hospital, King Abdulaziz Hospital ,Hera General Hospital in Makkah).Design: A quantitative quasi experimental design was conducted. Abstract: The South-South Region of Nigeria had the highest pooled prevalence of 8.5% of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Nigeria between 1985 and 2016. This signals the need for the use of additional markers, as tools for the diagnosis of the disease in order to monitor and manage therapy. This study was aimed at evaluating the acute phase reactant correlates among T2DM patients in Yenagoa, a city in the region. 123 subjects (80 T2DM and 43 control) were enrolled in the study based on a cross-sectional design. Venous blood samples were collected from all subjects and tested for fasting plasma glucose (FPG), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), C-reactive protein (CRP), albumin.......
